David Ham's much-campaigned Lister in Belmondo's last photo. Still owned by David and raced by son Simon.

John-W, absolutely brilliant. I thought you meant, "My favorite group at historic races is '68-76," until I zoomed in and noticed Graham was plastic!

Fantastic!

The paddock, Warwick Farm, 1963. Jack Bono's 356 Porsche.

Beside Jack's Denzel-engined Karmann Ghia tow car is Jack [white overalls] chatting to a young VW driver called Greg Mackie.

Not quite in the paddock ! but what a great photo of a Tiger Le Mans coupe on test ! I ought to know, but where is this taken, and can any one I.D. the people ? https://revslib.stan...log/vd148ft9923

I think most here know how to enlarge the photo, using the box at bottom right of the image.

The beautiful Ensign F3 of TNFer Fyrth Crosse, seen yesterday at my club’s Llandow Sprint. The car looked very smart in the Dempster colours it wore when originally raced by Mike Wilds, and Fyrth ended up winning his class. This particular Ensign has a very strong Bristolian connection, having lived most of its life in the Bristol area.

Good looking car, Tim.

I still have one of the 'Dirty Dempster' stickers, as seen on the car's nose, but from the March 733 days. I'd forgotten about Mike's Ensign - I think the team must have changed from Ensign to March midway through 1973.

Lovely picture, but no nose fins?  Unusual - well in period anyway. Thanks Tim.

But Llandow?  I thought it had been sold and was now a housing estate (which proves how little I know, yet again).

And, yes John - and I am sure I will have triggered your memory now - there were a large number of Ensign and GRD drivers (and others) who decamped to March that season.  Alan Jones in the works DART car couldn't really of course, but still raced at the front, if not winning, only to be beaten by Brise at the final round to the major championship - whatever it was called then (JPS, Shell Oils or whatever) because of the stupid double points rule instigated by John Webb.

Edited for "extra" word.   Apologies.

Llandow’s still going strong, Mark. We (Bristol Pegasus MC) and our colleagues at Bristol MC have been jointly running a sprint there for many years now. The venue is also very popular for track days, testing etc, and there’s a flourishing kart track alongside the main circuit. There was a plan to convert it to housing about ten years ago but this hasn’t happened yet, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can continue to run our sprint there in the future. The people who run the place are incredibly friendly and helpful, and we love going there in spite of it being quite a way from Bristol.

I don't think it was that unusual in the three year lifespan of the 1600 Formula Three for cars to run without nose fins and\or rear wings especially on high speed low downforce circuits such as Monza . Don't forget in the 1971 Italian Grand Prix ( run in the period of 1600 Formula Three ) the BRMs and Marches both ran without nose fins . As recently as the 'Dallara' era , Formula Three cars still ran at Monza with very shallow wings , even with the chicanes . By the way , I thought that Bristol Pegasus had made some changes to Llandow until I realised that your map was printed the opposite way to the others on Google !

What has happened to this topic? I decided to replace the broken image links in my posts, but the whole topic is haywire!

It was apparently started by Barry Boor in 2001, but the first post is 2004

There is no continuity, with multiple posts/pages missing.

Posts by the same person that should be on different dates are all listed on the same random date.

I can't make head nor tail of it... so decided to give up.

Rob

Yes,strange. Thankfully there are still lots of excellent photos still there, but something's happened. On this page, for example, nearly three years of posts seem to have gone (unless there weren't any) yet the post ref # (4976 & 4977) are in sequence. Maybe 'Photos from the Paddock' did go through a quiet patch.

The usual photo hosting sites were all the pics disapear  after a period.

I have now lost 2 lots of pics so have given up trying to continue.

Ideally IF this site allowed a simple upload the old pics would stay and take a lot less time to do also. But it will not happen so pics will often disapear fairly soon. Some people have reuploaded their pics so some old posts still have pics.

I know that images/photos disappear because of changes to hosting sites, that is why I wanted to replace my images... but whole posts?

It looks as if there has been a major corruption of the topic.

Knowing Autosport there is NO CHANCE of a restoration.

To help keep this thread alive I wonder what this might be, parked at yesterday's MGCC Curborough Sprint.  The rest of the car was Elan +2.

This has happened to other old threads here, as well. I think it has to do with the infamous forum "upgrade" a few years ago. Seems we have to live with it.

Lee Nicholle said "Ideally IF this site allowed a simple upload the old pics would stay and take a lot less time to do also. But it will not happen so pics will often disapear fairly soon. Some people have reuploaded their pics so some old posts still have pics."

Well simply (a) IF we were to upload photos to this forum the colossal amount of space would mean we would have to pay a monthly fee to maintain that facility, (b) currently we cannot 'share' photos off Facebook as this forum doesn't allow us to link to that site however as for "pictures disappearing fairly soon" it will always happen especially when the person posting either rearranges his folders or deletes a photo, and © some sites have disappeared and along with them the photos, I for one am fed up uploading the same photo time and again.

Not so sure you can blame it all on the "infamous forum upgrade".

Stephen, from the Website Feedback forum...

It's one of several topics where this has happened, Rob. We assume it stems from the various software migrations over the years and/or topics being merged. I'm afraid there doesn't appear to be a fix.

Some years ago these "Personal photos.." threads were among the most popular, and lively, on TNF. However, the growth of Facebook, and the ease of posting photos thereon, has seen most of the TNFers who regularly supported these threads migrate away to other outlets, me included

I had a few problems uploading photos last week. See if this works.

Andrew Bradshaw, Lotus 30, Chateau Impney 2018.

It appears not. The photo appears in the preview, but when I post the cupboard is bare. It's a link from my own website which has worked very well in the past.

I'll try it directly from Flickr.

Alan, the problems you’re having embedding images in posts are because you’re trying to embed them from a non-secure site - one whose URL starts with ‘http:’. Secure sites have URLs which start with ‘https:’. The forum software was changed in June last year - see this explanatory thread in the Website Feedback forum:

Autosport forums are now fully HTTPS

That explains it. I'll just post via Flick in future.

It would of helped if the preview image would have stated this wasn't going to work. Looks good until you press 'Post' ;)

These images are fabulous Rob!

I'm guessing you've rescanned them since you originally posted them, as they are bigger, brighter and more detailed than when you kindly sent me a bunch of your pictures for OldRacingcars.com way back in 2001.

Great photos Rob.

October 1971 at Brands; lovely weather, beautiful BRM on pole, all ending terribly sadly.

On a lighter note, that photo is an interesting fashion shot. 'Normal' teenage lads might still go to races in a tie and smart dark trousers. In fact there's quite a bit of sensible clothing around, contrasting with the sensational checked flares behind Seppi's cockpit! I was there but I'm sure they're not mine.....

You sent me quite a few of F5000s from the 1973 International Trophy, and I've used ten of those: Dean, Pilette, Brown and Thompson in Chevron B24s, Russell's Leda, Edwards and Lunger's Lola T330s, Rollinson's McRae, and Holland's and Evans's Trojan T101s.  If you have rescanned those, I'd love to get new images.

Thanks!
