Must have been a standard part as Maurice's photo shows the Beltoise car with the same set up.

How would we survive without Bungees and Tank Tape :)

And in the last 20 years zip ties! Make that 30 years,,,, how time flies!

Looks like the first winglets fitted to airbox, a F1 tradition that is very much alive today all over the cars.

Were the winglets used instead of the bungey cords?? :)

Are all of these lovely photos copyrighted?

All the photos posted on behalf of Maurice Bruton are copyright reserved, Robin (as indeed is anything posted by myself).
Maurice's pics were for his personal enjoyment only, and he is in the process of moving on towards scannig his colour negs. I do know that he would be prepared to sell his negatives once scanned if anyone could make use of them.

I have one more batch of Maurice's great photos to post here, and he will return in the spring from his winter retreat in Spain to resume scanning.

 WOW! Excellent photo's! Thank you for posting them. I find the contrast in the "grand Prix" scene in Maurice's photos and the now facinating.

Ah, is that Duncan Hamilton with the beard? In other photos I see Surtees talking to Alan Challis and, I think, Peter Berthon. And doesn't Tony Southgate look young? Very late-1960s, rather than the cool 1970s style we see more often in his late BRM, Shadow and Arrows photos.

Wonderful additions and many thanks for sharing them with us. Judging by the body langauge one can really sense that a certain Mr. Amon is at the end of his tether with the Fazzaaaz.

Well spotted, David. I sent this photograph to Bruce's sister, Jan McLaren yesterday and she immediately identified her father.

Tony, thanks for these. The last is the 1962 GP I think, maybe they all are. Jim Clark on pole (left hand side) and Innes Ireland (far side of the front row) about to become stuck on the grid, cars weaving all around him. Godin de Beaufort's Porsche is clearly visible towards the back.
The grandstand view must have been good, watching the cars over the Melling Crossing, round Tatt's and away.

I'll second VWV's comments as well. My favourite photo is #4, with a very ordinary looking drill and power cord in front of the car. It shows not only how much cars have changed in 40+ years, but the equipment required to service and repair them has also changed.

Long time lurker, so about time that I posted something (thanks to XJ13 for the prompt).

These are from an original collection of photos that I acquired some years ago, and were snaps taken by a tyre technician back in the day.

Wow! Two Lotus 63 with Miles & Bonnier numbers, after Hill & Rindt decided they preferred the 49. Didn't Bonnier go to Silverstone expecting to drive the 49 on the right?

Here's a detail from a photo I took at the recent BRM Day in Bourne:

Posted Image

It looks to me as though the airbox is bifurcated and made to fit over and around the stay.

Here are a couple of photos that show the 1973 P160E which seems to make do with just one clip at the rear.

I thought that Bonnier had purchased the Lotus 49 but as he only went on to race a 49 at the Nurburgring maybe he leased the car. Howevere he was entered in the 49 for Silverstone but ended up in the un-loved 63.

After the 'ring, he entered it for the Gold Cup & although Bonnier crashed, it seemed this was more to do with bits falling off the car, so it was returned to Lotus along with the Swedish version of "you know what you can do with this..."

We have covered this site before, but looking at something else on it I thought the "colourised" link might be interesting;
http://www.stilltime...Colourised.html

I have often wondered if Albert Kahn had any colour or coloured shots in his collection as there is a French WW1 site with coloured images, similar period.

Interesting that in 2008, McLaren were promoting 40 years of their existence, whilst in 2013 they are proclaiming their 50th.

Edit - probably 40 years since the first win

Unquestionably 'paddock' shots, kento, but probably more the "Personal photos from historic festivals" thread.
