I raced against Ted Wentz in FF here in the States then he went to England to be a test griver Lola. I know he was sponsored by Wella and drove a White Lola in Formula Atlantic. From there it's a blur. Could someone enlightened me further?

His UK/European career ended after 1976, the year he won the UK Atlantic series, Indylantic, again in a Lola. He did at least 1 F2 race in a, different, Lola too that year, but don't think he raced after that over here.

I always liked Ted, both as a driver and a decent guy too. The story of how he aquired the Wella sponsorship is quite amusing. Formula Ford was booming in the UK in the early 70s and there were more championships on offer than you could shake a stick at. Wella entered motor sport by starting their own FF championship and in comparison to some it wasn't all that well supported - some of the more favoured front runners didn't bother taking part in it. Ted did, and he won the title as he fully deserved to - he drove well all year. At the prize giving at the end of year, he accepted his trophy and to the surprise of everyone, because it had never been announced at the start of the season, he was also given a fully Wella-sponsored drive in Formula Atlantic with a brand new car for the next year.

For some reason the Wella FF championship suddenly became very popular with all the most up and coming drivers in the following year....

Ian Senior:

Great info, I guess he then went back to Philadelphia, PA. I know Tom Pumpelly thought a lot of him. I remember the two having a particularly strong FF go at VIR. Tom in an Elden, Ted in a Meryln.

From another thread about ted...
http://forums.autosp...light=Ted Wentz

After some looking around, I found that Ted Wentz is now the president of Quadratec.a company in West Chester, PA. "Jeep and Truck enthusiasts founded Quadratec over a decade ago, mostly out of seeing the need for better product availability and customer service for the Jeep, Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and Truck owners. Quadratec has been setup to be a one stop source for anything you need for your Jeep, SUV or Truck. They want to be able to provide any and all parts you're looking for, and are constantly researching the release of new products on the market. Their core principle is "to give you, our customers, the best quality, value and service."
The following is from 'Meet the Manufacturers' in America's 4x4 4U Video Magazine..."A comprehensive video shop tour and interview with President Ted Wentz will be linked up from this webpage, as well as being available online at 4x4TV.com."

I went to Quadratec's web-site http://www.quadratec.com/
and e-mailed them the following question..."Is your company president, Ted Wentz, the same Ted Wentz who was impressive in Formula Atlantic in 1974, won the occasional race and finished 12th in the John Player championship and won the 1975 Southern Organs Atlantic championship in a Wella Lola and was competitive with the car converted to F2 specification in two British F2 races?"
I just received the following reply..."Yes, our company president is the same person you listed.
In case this email does not fully answer your question, or you would like to contact us for any reason, simply reply to this email. Thank you
