Just thought I'd share something I discovered in the Spa pit lane last week. Williams have incorporated into their livery a small but, in my opinion, appropriate and touching tribute to Ayrton Senna. It actually brought a smile to my face. Located on the inside of each of the front wing "uprights" (the vertical posts that hold the wing to the nose; my mind has misplaced the technically correct name) is a small decal (no larger than 2x2") of the Senna "S" and the name "Senna." It's identical to the design on those t-shirts, but it's all blue. I've got a great photo, but no scanner; sorry.

I'm confident I'm one of the last to figure this out. How long have Williams been doing this? Since immediately after Imola?

Never noticed that. I wonder how much the Senna foundation pay to have that there? I dont believe ole franky would do it for free.

Mot,

I don't know about that. Williams was very bothered by Senna's death in one of his cars and did not want even to race Monaco that year.

Franky does it for free and it has been there all along.

It's because it's free that it's tucked away where a sponsor wouldn't pay.
Senna wasn't the only driver to die in one of Frank's cars, but he died in an era when nobody died...

This has been done since 94. That logo has always been there somewhere on the front wing uprights.

Take a look on the front wing between the supports.

They do it since............ 4ever.... really, I have those 1/43 models and 1/18 from the Williams since 94, all have it on the front wing, ever since 94 of course.

It's a great tribute, it will stay there also 4ever I guess.......

You are saying you just saw it lately?

shame on YOU!

I've recently been to the Coulthard exhibition in Scotland and they have the 95 Williams there thay Coulthard won his first race with.

I noticed the Senna logo there on the front wing supports.

This is from the start of the season, now the B of Bridgestone occupies this spot and the Senna S is situated on the inside of the hanger.

I think is also been on the centre of the front wing main-plane before as wel (98 I think)

Here is a 99 Williams

I have the same undisputed reference as Frans!
Those logos were always there.
But I have to admit that I am aware of them only because of the models I own. Otherwise they are pretty hard to spot!

Hard all right, I reckon you'd need a magnifying glass to see them on the models.

I recall seeing it since 1996. Nonetheless, a nice thing to do by the Williams team. The question is, for how long? till 2004?

regards,

It all Started IMOLA 95... Williams placed it there because it was 1 year at that moment...
The race after (cant remeber which one) it was gone... but the race after that it was abck... and it has been there ver since...always near the front wing... It's been on better locations, but at least they put something there...

Frank felt a lot Senna's death. He is a fair man. Not like Patrick Head...

Frank gave Senna's first ride in F1 (test - Donnington '83) and Senna always remembered it.

Payed annoucement. What a i... comment!
