Hey guys,

I understand that the Honda's Formula 1 turbocharged 1.5L V6 race engine uses a pair of IHI RX6Ds.

I found a unit and the details are as follows:-

Spec : 30P16-1048712
Serial No.: RX6D 28 1480
Parts No. : R T-9

Any possiblity that the turbocharger I found is from the Honda F1 race engine?

Pics will be uploaded soon.

The RX6D used by Honda had ball bearings, a ceramic turbine, a thin wall stainless steel turbine housing and I would guess that they also had billet machined aluminium compressors (the Garretts had that anyway).

The exhaust flange had three bolts for attaching the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold.

Shouldn't be that difficult to identify them as those features are very uncommon on ordinary turbochargers.

Sight unseen, i'd sat that there is a very good chance what you've got is an Apex'i RX6 turbo.

these were made by IHI and badged Apex'i for the Japanese modification scene.

Used on Skylines, RX7's, EVO's etc.

Where did you pick it up?

It sure looks like an IHI F1 turbo.

Do you know if it has a ceramic turbine?

Honda RA167 in a Williams, as you can see the turbos are essentially identical

It appears to be the right side turbo. The left side turbo rotates in the opposite direction.
