Does anyone have any information on Colin Riley? He is my wife's cousin but she lost contact with him in the 1960s.
Any information would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

According to the results on the WSRP site Fushida drove a Toyota-engined McLaren M12, but they don't have the name of the other Toyota driver:In the back, with #7, is the legendary Toyota 7. Don't know the driver (Hiroshi Fushida?).
It was Ronnie Bucknum, who had a broken finger - the result of a motorcycle accident. It troubled him so much during practice that it was decided to fly Parsons in to replace him. He arrived just in time for qualifying.I've read that Chuck Parsons was a last-minute choice by Roger Penske, for the 24 Hours of Daytona 1969. In the original entry list, another driver (David Hobbs? Craig Fisher? Ronnie Bucknum?) was scheduled to race alongside Mark Donohue, but he was injured and Chuck replaced him.

I have answered his question privately. Colin Riley was a great mechanic. He also suffered from severe depression. He didn't want to go on any longer and took his own life many years ago.
Um, WRONG! Colin Riley was my father. He passed away Sept. 20, 2013 from ALS. TYVM.

I would like to start a thread on Chuck Parsons. Chuck passed away of a brain Aneurysm some time ago. Chuck raced in the USRRC and the CanAm and drove some great cars. I think the forum members are going to enjoy seeing them. This picture is Chuck Parsons and Lothar Motschenbacher at Elkhart Lake in 1967. Peyton Cramer with them. Chuck Parsons was born February 6, 1924 in Bruin, Kentucky. I believe he passed away January 3, 1999. He was married to his lovely wife Sherry and had 3 children from an eariler marriage. He lived in the Carmel area of California. Chuck was also an avid pilot and had his own plane for many years. His first race car was a Austin-Healey. He won the 1963 USRRC race at Laguna Seca in a Lotus 23B. He won many races and was a great friend. He also was the 1966 USRRC Champion. Chuck's best CanAm finish was a fine 2nd at Riverside in 1969.

I am so glad to have found this. My father worked with Chuck (Colin Riley) for years, and my mom was Sherry's private care nurse until her passing. Our families spent a lot of time together and I have fond memories of time spent at their home. I used to follow Chuck's teen granddaughters around like a bratty younger sibling. Anyway, we lost contact with Chuck after Sherry's death. These pictures are bringing back memories.

Colin Riley last year
I had heard what now turns out to be wrong, that Colin Riley had taken his own life. Here is a photo of Colin taken last year with his son by his side. As Colin's daughter Gabby has said, Colin suffered from ALS and passed away on Sept. 20, 2013.

Colin Riley and Ike and Blake Smith next to Ferrari
Colin and Ike ran this car together in the day. The driver was Billy Scyphers and in endurance races Alan Glick also drove for the team.

So, Jerry, did Colin turn the wrenches on that 308? I have an image of that car on my site with the entrant listed as Scyphers-Ankor Racing, but I haven't been able to find much more information about it. This is from Laguna Seca in '84:

Wildman: Very nice photo you have posted, this team ran a Ferrari in 1983 and 1984. At the end of 1984 they switched to a Corvette. Bill Scyphers and Alan Glick, the team principal, ran the Corvette at Riverside in a 3 hour enduro and won the event.
The truck behind the car was the team transporter, it is a Freightliner cab and Gerhardt trailer.

Wow! I remember this! What ever happened to Billy? I vaguely remember a driver named Craig as well, but can't be 100% positive, as I was around 7 or 8ish at that time.
