The car was modified by Almeras Freres for the 1990 season, I remember I read they had moved intercoolers, lowered and modified the bodywork, etc....the car was practiced at Monza, where it didn't start (if I remember well), and then race debuted at Silverstone, however they encountered some troubles so it was reverted to a more conventional layout, to the point that it used a standard customer short tail...

That would be my photo from racingsportscars.com.....

Small pedantic point, but I would have preferred a link to the site, or at least a note on where you got it from. There have been numerous threads on this forum on this subject.

Built around an ex-Kremer 962 IIRC.

Andrew, thanks. Not my site but I gave permission for the use of my photos to the site owner (who is well-known on TNF, but doesn't use his name on Racingsportcars.com)

Thanks again.

Hi Andrew, first time I see this interesting body for the Almeras 962 ! No picture of it in the 1990 World Sportscar Racing book, they used the regular body for the other races. Maybe more in their book, that could be interesting to contact them, I remember that they sold the car years ago but I'm not sure.

The ex Almeras, ex Kremer Porsche 962 is currently up for sale and is pictured on page 113 of the August 2007 issue of "Motor Sport". The car is being offered by Hall and Hall and is shown still in the Almeras livery.

The car at Hall & Hall is #110 and was originally supplied to Kremer (Surer/Winkelhock). Then sold to Almeras in 1988 but was never run by them at Silverstone .

Were they involved with two cars, 110 and 101?

From what I can gather, Almeras had three 962s:

* 962-110CK-2, a Thompson-chassis car previously run by Kremer in 1987. I saw it at Brands Hatch in 1989 with the Kremer-style short tail and inward-sloping wing supports. I think it always ran with a standard-ish looking front clip.

* 962C-EAF/1, another Thompson-chassis car which seems to have been built for/by Almeras Freres, and the one that was the subject of this thread. I saw it at Le Mans in 1991 and it looked pretty-much standard (short-tail) aside from its 'Almeras'-style nose/headlight treatment.

* 962C-001GS, a Momo/Gebhardt chassis which was the car run by Momo at Le Mans in 1990. It doesn't seem to have been raced by Almeras and passed to Guy Chotard. This car always reminded me of a 1988/89 Brun short-tail, though I'm not sure if there is a reason for that.

So where are they now?
