And, just for the record, Coulthard is one of the drivers I cheer for.
I hope you have done a search on the internet and found nothing before you contemplated making accusations.

Coulthard didn't crash his plane. His plane crashed which is something VERY different.

The plane was a Lear Jet 35 model, and it was not his normal plane or pilots.
The main pilot who was almost 50 years old had a record for being temperamental under stress, and had to have high level of pilot with him. He did have, the co-pilot had an excellant record but he did not fly the plane. He was 33 years old I think. I think they argued coming in.
The accident happened due mainly to an engine problem, so the plane came in with one engine. The pilot got too low and he increased speed, with the one engine. With one engine there are yaw issues as the engine pushes the nose toward the non operating engine side. By trying to keep the plane straight, the plane rolls, and if low the wing tip then hits the tarmac, which is what happened. The pilot should have bailed out and gone around again.
Both crew died, DC got his girlfriend out of the broken fuselage, and when everyone was out he went back to try to get the pilots out, but he could not before the firecrew arrived. And engine had caught fire as well.
I don't think DC raced that weekend ...
I was going to make paparazzi jokes about tunnels, but since the air crash accussation, I've gotten serious again.

You wrote:
You must have made a typo, because it seems you did not mean to criticize him, but your statement said that "Coultard crashed his plane", which is quite incorrect, I'm sure you would agree.Coulthard crashed his plane which killed his pilots in 2000. Has this not been reported either?
And yes, the crash was reported at the time, world wide, with photographs even in Melbourne Australia newspapers.

Well ... they call them newspapers.

One of them in Melbourne, the Age, is a world class newspaper. I am not sure about the other state's newspapers quality.
And young Rupert Murdoch learn't his craft in newspapers in Australia, and he expanded by going to the UK, the US and the world. The Age is not a Murdoch paper. I think he's too interventionist, but he's been successful.

I remember, when I was in uni taking a class in 2001 or so, we had an American lecturer (visiting from a US univeristy) who couldn't get over how "everyone has a cell phone" here.

The rest are either tabloids, with Kylie Minogue finding her way onto the front page

lol. Not a ****ing chance.
(Quite why anybody would want to assume their life has just been put in danger by a pretend-friend is beyond me....I guess if things like crash reports, and proper investigations into what happened are something you think are unnecessary and irrelevant, then "ah, it must be god" might make sense...and what a nice god for wanting to try and kill me in the first place! Oh..I see, god was only doing the "saving me" bit, not the "nearly killing me bit"....riiiiiight.).

Well we each have our skills ... but on sportsmen who are religious and open about it, Aussie Aaron Baddeley spoke up about his faith after he just won a PGA tour event in the USA, the FBR Open in Scottsdale. Interestingly, his father was the head of Mario Andretti's pit crew. But Aaron was not keen on driving. And just as well, he's six foot 2 inches tall. He's a very good putter.

Well, I got 283,000 results on Google for "Coulthard crash".Originally posted by dbltop
I have tried a search on this website and found nothing. Perhaps I am doing it wrong. Type in " 1999 coulthard road accident/monaco" and see what you find.
How many of these were pit-entry related I cannot say ...

So I'm a bit confused - are you saying that if you knew this back in 1999 it would affect your support for David?

And who really cares if this wasn't mentioned back in the day...apart from the fact that Monaco takes their sweet ass time in judicial matters - this is history, in the past, time to move on.

It also mentioned it being a passenger ... it sounds like maybe an ex girlfriend, or an "aquaintance", with an action based upon an insurance claim. Maybe she sued on the basis of a stiff neck or something like that. Or even she was unhappy about how that "date" went ...

that may be so, but it's in the news at the moment. as noted above. who are we mere mortals to move on when the media are dwelling on past incidents (and present court judgements)?
