I take this picture in 67. It was an very strange thing : an Abarth F2 chassis with a big Ford V8 4,7 liters. The guy named René Barone was a french who was running in Hillclimb.
My question is : what about the other Abarth monoposto ? who know the story ?

If it was not recently sold, it is currently in the famous Abarth museum of Michel Pont at the Château de Savigny lès Beaune.

I remember the 2 liters Abarth of Michel Pont with the advertising "à toute vapeur avec SEB". Have you any pics ?

But those exhaust stacks are certainly intimidating! Perhaps they have something to do with tuned length?

I remember the look of Abarths F2 car in 1964 , and looking in Hodges A-Z of Formula racing cars
proves me right. At least I do not see the big difference apart from of course the engine.
Hodges writes : The type 232 F2 car was announced in the spring of 1964 and seemed promising
eic. Too slow with a Fiat engine however and perhaps "Geki" too.

They are not that different than those used on the 1962 BRM, and American dragsters also used that type of exhausts in the early and mid-1960s

Geki was 11 and Hermann retired at the Avus race won by Heghbourne,Procter,Hulme

Geki was 7 at the Eifellrennen won by Clark,Attwood,Spence

Hermann was 7 at Vienna GP won by Attwood,Procter,Gardner

All entries by Scuderia Sorocaima . The Fiat engine was claimed to have 120 horses, but people said it must have been ponyes.

In 1968, Abarth was thinking formula one !

They engaged a test driver, Jonathan Williams, but nothing more and the project was modified in a Formula libre 2 liters.

Here the pic of this rare car

It was drived by Peter Schetty at Saint-Ursanne the swiss hill climb in 1968.

The exhausts are also reminiscent of the prototype Lotus-Ford pushrod 289 engine based Indycar running at the Kingman Arizona tests.
