I have made a small video-Clip about the races at St.Wendel.The commentary is in German.
First it was a Super8, then a VHS-video, now on DVD. The second part of the film doesn`t work because of not having enough web-space.
klick here
After the film has started please klick for a short time pause and give a little bit time for loading.
Enjoy

However, the link you provided does not work. It seems to take me to a guest book rather than a video, but my browser doesn't like it and shuts down. Could you link to the video directly instead?

Very nice indeed! To be honest, motor sport wise, I always only associated St. Wendel with the Super-Special of the Rallye Deutschland, which now also is a thing of the past, as this year, the Super-Special will be held in the city centre of Trier.
Thanks for providing this film!

Those really were the days. Unfortunately, there's very little info on the St. Wendel races - apart from a small booklet published in 1984 - even though it was one of the legendary road courses in Europe, kind of like a miniature Isle of Man.
Thanks for making the film available, Bernd!

In St.Wendel the races started in 1951, the last race took place in 1964.All the champions at that time were starters at St.Wendel: Hailwood, Redman, Phillis, Degner, Taveri, Deubel, Hartle, Duff,Scheidegger, Camathias,Dale.Driver, Kavanagh,H.P. Müller, Anscheidt, Lorenzetti, Baltisberger, Hinton, Surtees etc. After an interruption of 18 years, there was a revival from 1982 till 1992.In 1991 and 1992 3 riders have been killed and the show was over for ever. The course was too dangerous for the fast racebikes of today. The course was 3,788 km and counter clock-wise with a different kind of surface.
Kind Regards

. But if you want to get the DVD, send a PM to TTMarshal@gmx.de and you will get further details.

Hi Bernd, you state that three riders lost their lives in the 1990s at St. Wendel track.
I have Gerold Fischer in 1990, and Klaus Liegibel in 1992. Who was the third fatality?
