No, he timed it to perfection.

I used VirtualDub and my dvd of the race. I went through every single frame and there is evidence that he slightly (a very tiny amount) jumped but only for about an half of a second.

half a second is quite a margin even over a whole lap...

That interview with Senna was very, very Michael Shumacher like. I think for once I have to agree with that French FIA guy. In fact, the longer Max sticks around, the more I miss the Frenchman.
History is starting to show you don't know what you got until it is gone; or be careful what you wish for. JPB...come back!

Not Senna's greatest moment.

come on, JMB was a real bastard. even him admitted in the mid 90's that he has given prost hand in some cases...furthermore in 1989 Prost was who deliberately collided with Senna. It was more his fault than Senna's. Senna was already beside him when he shut the door.

Sergino,
have you read the threads on the old the AtlasF1 Court DB yet? I am thinking particularly of those relating to Suzuka 1989 , Suzuka 1990 and Senna's legacy . There are also discussions regarding the FIA including one that discusses allegations of bias.

Sergino:

Of course JPB was a bastard, having said that what is Moseley? At worst it was hard racing, Senna
was awfully ambitious in that move; AND I am a huge Senna fan. I never met him, but I did meet Prost at Detroit the year he threw it away at Monaco; and he said basically, "I didn't make a mistake, it was a mechanical failure". Now I'm dumb, but I'm not stupid...feel free to pile on! :stoned:

I too liked JPB, then again "Benign Dictatorship" has always appealed to me.

As opposed to the malevolent kind we get with Max Mosley (who presumably took lessons from his Dad).

Balestre was inimical to the sport. Mosley has put it on a much firmer footing. Although he seems to have gone entirely into the Ferrari camp since about 1998.

Ian Senior and Ensign14:

You're both right in a way. I just simply wish we could go racing, and that everyone would park their egos and their agendas. Unfortunately that's just not going to happen.

At least I'm not completely alone in my madness. :smoking:

This was one of the races we used at FOM to test our jump start penalty software, why? Because Prost timed it to perfection. He told me he never went on the green, everybody went on green. The "Prof" always went as the red went out!!! (because what has to come next???)

Spa 83 for a start. It signalled aborted start. They dropped it after it went off by accident and everyone zoomed off regardless...they realized drivers paid no attention to it...

Of course I go and try and find my files, and can't. The amber aborts currently being used are reletively recent. But from I did find, even before FOM took the lights to each race, and circuits had there own, even if they did include amber, the ambers were not used in the start sequence

for example!

Sorry, I meant they dropped the need for green cos everyone zoomed off as soon as they saw a change of some sort. I assume nowadays it's a bit easier to communicate problems cos of the electrickery. And does amber come on while the red is still on? It didn't before, certainly. Can't remember now...

Amber was never in the start sequence. It was to stop the start. :drunk:

Oh I remember many happy hours drilling little holes on each string place!

I am not 100% certain how it works now, but the light rig is bigger, and includes abort lights, I suspect the abort lights would come on in conjunction with any other light, because I am sure (and I was no different) if anything changed, I'd be gone!!

Funny this has reminded me of a clip I saw of an F1 start at Brands, around 61/62 ish. The starter climbs up a nice set of steps, and half heartedly waves a flag. Whoosh go the cars, and they only just manage to get the steps yanked back out of the way, by millimetres
