I'm currently researching the first IROC races (Porsche 911 - 1973/4) and a couple of sources say they raced using Goodyear radial tyres (or perhaps tires is more appropriate). One source describes these as Goodyear Exten Radial tyres.

This really surprised me since I didn't think Goodyear got into radial racing tyres until much later than 1973. I think even Michelin only started in 1972. Can any one shed any light on this?
