What an apt choice of name!

The reason for entering with Hunt's identity is not known, but it could have been to minimize public interest before the event.

That's silly. Surely having 'Kimi Räikkönen' on the entry list would cause some excitement, but I guess having James Hunt racing would be even more special. He's been dead for almost 14 years.

I think if it was Raikkonen's idea it is kinda cool :-)

At least if nothing else he has an appreciation of drivers from the past, particularly one he might identify with.

I've not driven snowmobiles that much (15 hours or so) so I'm not skilled, but to me it strikes as very daring to enter a snowmobile competition just before the season start, way more accident prone than tennis for sure.

Maybe he entered James Hunt to avoid his team finding out and promptly talk him out of doing it?

I read an interview with Kimi last year & he was asked what book he was reading at the time & his answer was, James Hunt's biography.

My estimation of Kimi Raikkonen just went up like -----------------------------> this much. We just need to get him to commentate on the races, now. Oh, and a WDC.

I beleive he entered the event under James Hunt just for the kicks... and as has been commented, he has recently finished reading Hunt's biography. :)

Isn't Kimi required to wear Ferrari overalls/clothes at all public events that aren't formal? The sponsors won't be happy.

Yeah, like when he decides to go scuba diving he just pulls his Ferrari brand wetsuit from the closet. Is that what you mean? Common sense, anyone?

He actually is. Why do you think Schumacher wears Ferrari overalls when he goes karting? Because he thinks he looks cool in red or because he can't afford another overall?

If there was such a clause perhaps it was scrapped in earnest after Kimi's karaoke escapades.

As a race driver, yes.

There's been lots of comments about if he wants, he'll go karting. Maybe he already has. Well, there's pictures of him in white driving suits too while he has gone carting. That's different to doing some things for Ferrari, which from the sound of it, is very minor anyway. And if MS wanted to enter another business endeavor, IMO Ferrari wouldn't stop him. And besides all that, MS is a phone call away, and if he was doing something that Ferrari didn't like, I reckon they'd call him, rather than send a lawyer. They like they family thing don't they ... I have no idea though about MS's other sponsorships, I presume most of those are either gone or greatly diminished.

You can roll your eyes off, but it won't change the fact that you missed the point - by a mile.

Hint: The guys doing that snowx aren't using average outdoor jackets from Walmart you know nor Ferrari is having those made either. The same applies to wetsuits, ice-hockey gear etc.

Hope this helps.

Oh. Ferrari is so poor and the contracts are so lame that can afford the luxury of having is star driver doing something that may attract a lot of publicity and miss the opportunity, just because they can't order (or purchase) a high-end snowsuit. Yeah.....

If they could, they would make to snow in red and yellow, you know?

Wait, after all, it wasn't Kimi Raikkonen, it was James Hunt there!

He probably raced under an assumed name because his insurance prohibits him from engaging in other dangerous sports.

Which would also be the reason why he wasn't drawing attention to himself by wearing a Ferrari jacket.

Wouldn't his insurance now be violated? What about fraud?

He didn't claim, and I doubt the insurance company reads the board.

That would mean that he would have had to get another insurance company to insure him for the snow race. Somehow, no matter how much Kimi earns, I doubt he could afford the extra premium cost for being dead. :)

Further proof that Kimi has style.

Wonder if JH speaking Finnish sounded like Raikonnen speaking English?
