What can anyone tell me about an Astech-Fiat sports racer seen recently at a Sears Point vintage race? I understand that a company named Astech made speed equipment for Fiats - especially the 850 models. Can anyone tell me where and when, or anything more about this?

I think they were actually a southern California company that made FIAT speed parts, circa 1965-1975...

I think that both Astech and PBS manufactured 8-port cylinder heads for the 850 engine.

I googled Astech-Fiat and came up with an entry list for the 1975 CSPRRC RACES. In D Sports Racing there is listed an Astech-Suzuki out of Los Angeles, and a Astech-Fiat out of Huntington Beach. Did Astech make sports racing chassis also, and what is CSPRRC?

Champion Spark Plugs Road Racing Championship. It was sort of a western version of the SCCA run-offs

The CSPRRC -- Champion Spark Plug Road Racing Classic -- was the SCCA runoffs at least through 1979 if not later. 1979 is the last year for which I have materials from Road Atlanta for the event.

If there were two Astech cars (one Suzuki and one Fiat powered) in the 1975 champ runoffs, am I correct to think that Astech built other cars. Who knows more about the company that was Astech?

Thanks! I knew there had to be more info out there. I guess I'm not as good at Googling as I should be.
One of the reasons I am interested in Astech is that I just bought a Fiat 850 Bertone Racer with an Astech motor. It has the eight-port cylinder head with Astech valve cover, Astech dual port intake manifold with one Weber 40DCOE sidedraft carb, Astech sport cam, special pistons, full sized front & rear radiators, finned aluminum oil pan, and lots more.
The Bertone bodied 850 Racer was the fairly rare coupe version of the 850 spider, and I think a much prettier car. Bertone Racers were raced in the 1969 Targa Florio and the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally, and probably other races and rallies also.
