Andrew Skilleter has been a professional illustrator for over three decades and is best known for his professional Doctor Who work amongst many other genres. He is the brother of motoring journalist and author Paul Skilleter.

This painting was originally commissioned in the UK for Thoroughbred & Classic Cars magazine for the Men and Machines feature of the August 1976 issue. This original, which has been in the artist’s possession since publication, is being offered for sale for the first time directly from the artist. The condition is excellent. Given its interesting provenance and visual impact, this work, now over 30 years old, should appeal to Brabham collectors – who will know that Australian Jack Brabham was Formula 1 World Champion in 1959 (Cooper-Climax), 1960 (Cooper-Climax) and, at the age of 40, 1966 (Repco-Brabham). In the Jaguar context, Brabham competed only once, in the Riverside Grand Prix of October 1960 with theLe Mans prototype E2A.
