So I had to look up what the rules says:
The FIA sporting regulations for 2007 strangely doesn't specify which national anthems are to be played on the podium. However the regulations for 2008 says that the national anthem of the winning driver and the winning team will be played, which seems to imply that in case the driver and the team are of the same nationality, that national anthem will be played twice in 2008.

Why's that? I'm no expert in Liechtenstein, but thought they had just 1 anthem, called (well, according to Wiki anyway...) Oben am jungen Rhein, meaning "High Above the Young Rhine".Originally posted by ehagar
But... but! What if the driver is from Liechtenstein? Then you might hear the same toon twice![]()

Ah, interesting (ish ;) ), so it's the same tune as the German (I preusme) but with Liechtensteinian lyrics...albeit sung in the German language, what with Liechtenstein being the smallest German speaking nation an' all that...Originally posted by Rockford
It's the same tune, different words ;)

Why would they play something 'English' for Hamilton? They didn't play 'Flower of Scotland' for DC. Anyway our English friends would get upset with the words!;)Originally posted by Skunkpirat
Thanks for the quick answers now it begins to clear up in my head. I think they ought to play some english song for him but I doubt they will but hope brings eternal. It seems a bit unfair giving him less time on the podium because he's a Brit, and playing verse two is like playing verse one because unfortunatly Britain has the most boring anthem of them all. I have no doubt I'll get my answer this season if Hamilton plays his cards right which I have every confident in him to do.
