So, for the heck of it, how many personalities can you name from the pictures on the wall behind Mr Abarth?
I'll get the easy ones out of the way: M Hawthorn, P Collins and J M Fangio - your turn!
While we're at it, who drove for team Roosevelt?
Lovely little cars

Who can tell me more about this Roosevelt Motors? Being a native Washingtonian, I'm having a hard time visualizing where V Street, N.E. is. I "think" it's the Foggy Bottom area...

Was this the well known Roosevelt family? If so which member was it and what was/is his relationship to FDR?

Sharman that was my thought. FDR had 4 or 5 sons, of which at least one had a significant Naval career in WW II.

David
I knew a Bill Roosevelt in the 70's who was a nephew or grandson of FDR (can't remember which)who was into flying (he had a small twin piston engined aircraft which was supposed to be the fastest prop driven light aircraft on the market) and boating with a Barcone which he asked me to run from Florida to the Bahamas. It was, I believe, faster than the equivalent Cigarette. I just wondered if the desire for performance ran in the family.

It is interesting how the vaguaries of chance manifest themselves. I was in correspondence on another matter (naturally to do with historic race cars) and received, via my stepson, an email offering me the ex Roosevelt Sebring class winning Abarth. Honest I hadn't even dreamt of mentioning outside of this forum, I can't afford it and would not be able to get into it even if I could.
But how and why should t crop up at this particular moment?

Yes,
you have to love the Internet and chance! I happened to be flipping through the Trend Book
168 (or so) after following where my Calro/Karl Abarth post was going and
stumbled upon the Roosevelt/Devin article. I was happy to post it and lo and
behold the car has surfaced! How COOL! This has been happening to me a lot lately
and in fact we (my Father (who is the money person) and I) were able to
locate (via the Internet) and purchase the Sandy MacAurthur Bandini Devin.
The previous owner Clair Reuter (rip) saved the history of the car and also my
Dad, Jack Reuter, has saved his collection of magazines, SCCA results, etc. I then began to
post this new info on my site and haven't stopped since. Click on the link below
to check out our "new" 1952 ex Chuck Hassen, James Riley, Sandy MacArthur, Clair
Reuter Bandini Siluro Crosley Devin and look for the NEW Bandini/Devin video 3:

PS how much for the Roosevelt/Devin?

I hope this is the right thread to mention it, but I was unimpressed to find out that Guy Moerenhout has sustained a recent heart attack:

I think I can speak for all here in wishing Guy a swift recovery.
