Does anyone remember Eddie Reagan or Regan? from the early 70's , i recall reading about this Irish racer in his Chevron B16 winning very often in Ireland.

I know i saw him once at Brands Hatch in 72/73 run in a MN GT championship and was impressed by the turn out of the car and his speed.

I believe the car was Orange coloured.

Just to expand on the previous posts

Eddie Regan is the correct spelling

The Chevron B8 was orange, this was followed by the ex-Denys Dobbie DART Chevron B16 in dark blue and then the Chevron B19 in dark blue and white (again ex-DART??)

He was the owner of the Clontarf Castle Hotel in Howth which is just outside Dublin

Eddie , went on to open a number of pubs in Dublin , including The Steering Wheel Pub , an early sponsor of Eddie Jordan.

Eddie Regan preparing to race his Chevron B8 in the support race to the British Empire Trophy at Oulton Park in May 1970. Eddie beat the lovely Porsche Carrera 6 of Richard Shardlow into 2nd place, whilst Bosco O'Brien took 3rd in the JCB Chevron B8.
As often happened at Oulton, when Rex Foster saw the support grids were a bit on the thin side, he made a call to Mondello man Eddie to ensure a healthy contingent of Irishmen came over to bulk up the entry, which he always managed with great effect!

As one of the previous poster's may well remember Eddie started as a barman in Davy Byrne's pub off Grafton Street. This must have been in the early 1960s. One further correction, the Brabham was BT36.

How interesting that Eddie Regan's Chevron B19 would come up just as I'm researching it (and all the other 53 B19s built).

Yes, it was ex-DART. But where did it go after Eddie? Anyone know?

By the way, Arthur Collier's B19 was a different one. I don't know where that one went either.

Arthur Collier and son Jeff are occasional visitors to another (decimal !) forum. It should be possible to make contact and find out what became of his B19 through him.

Someone has asked Arthur on my behalf and he's looking for his records. But I thought someone else may recall where it went after him.

Certainly do not think the Collier B19 stayed in Ireland.
I am wondering if Eddie's B16 was powered by an FVA rather than an FVC? Cannot think why though!

Eddie's Chevron B16-FVA at Kirkistown 1971 - note different race numbers to confuse timekeepers!

It is John Watson's BT30 which by 1971 had been modified up to BT36 after his accident in 1970

And taken at the GKN F3 meeting at Kirkistown in 1971.
They were both taking part in the supporting 'Libre' race.
I'm not sure whose the Swedish van is parked in the background. I remember Conny Andersson as being there but there were a couple of others too....

Plus if I remember right the said Conny was sponsored by a magazine called "Private".

In full colour (they tell me :cat: ) it would have been sharp enough today, but in 1971 hard porn like that was virtually a hanging offence . . . . . . . .

Could be Ulf Svensson or his team-mate

According to the programme, number 7 is Terrence Peterson , Brabham BT35. I also think the dog may have been called Mr Bandit, but from the distance it could be Mrs Bandit.

Looking at number 7 again it looks more like a Chevron. Ken Sedgley was number 17 in a Chevron B17, may be he had not applied the one yet?

Larryd - Yes, that's Greg Roberts of Brabham BT21 and Crossle 25F fame - now in Historic Rallying driving and co-driving Mk 1 Lotus Cortinas

Looking at number 7 again it looks more like a Chevron.

Squire Straker - Definitely Terrence Peterson from USA - it was me who polished up the wheels of the Chevron !!

Hang on a minute!

Yes it is me at Kirkistown, but not my ex-wife who Giraffe met in Barbados. Must be the rum punches but memories of that time are vague....

Billy P and I were big mates in those days but he clearly took the better photographs. Can we have a Kirkistown in the 50s, 60s and 70s thread please?

I met up with the Swedish drivers at Silverstone the previous week to the Kirkistown meeting and tried to help them as much as possible. That was probably my first connection with Scandanavians in motor sport but not the last!
