At the time I was in the Style et Luxe area, there were far too many people aound the Royales to photograph even one. I was rather hoping I'd be able to get a shot of all five...Originally posted by bradbury west
Wot! No pictures of the Bugatti Royales or others from the Style et Luxe display? Am I alone in thinking that is was, again thanks to Mick Walsh's efforts, an excellent, varied and unusual collection? I know the light was tricky under the canopy for the Royales, no doubt part of the deal for having them, but I thought someone would have mentioned them, or is that display not esoteric enough for TNF? I am sure there are people who would like to see what was there, not just another 300SLR and old f1 cars, again. The broad church approach is surely what the FoS is all about, after all, some people even find rally cars appealing...........

it was quite dark under there.
Apparently there is a horn button on the back of every spoke on the steering wheel.

Yes I was responding to his post. After the crash in the rebuild someone got it wrong. Strange Porsche wouldn't notice that.

Some scans of my not-very-good 35mm prints, to fill in a few gaps:
world stunt bike champ Chris Pfeiffer; the Petermax Muller streamliner; Ronnie Picardo's 'Vette; Damon Hill wishing he'd worn goggles on Sunday afternoon; Jackie Stewart in Lola T90; Jack Oliver in McLaren M19 (I believe a late stand-in for a BRM P160); and Lewis Hamilton.

Many thanks for those, Pedro. When will you be posting the remaining 3100?????
TNF member Dennis Currington kindly asked me if I wanted him to put all my pictures of the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed online. Well, you can find them on his website Classic Racing Photos - Goodwood Gallery
Thanks Dennis for the great job!
Enjoy!

Any tips?
Presumably the Friday is the least crowded; is there any difference in the three day's programmes?
Any and all advice gratefully received.
Thanks.

You have more chances to get up close and personal to many of the vehicles/drivers/ entrants.
Some of the more famous/busier drivers may not be there on Friday, neither will be some of the cars.
However, if it is the 'red mist' runs, the spectacular actions that are your forte, then Sat or Sun is a better bet.
Sat and Sun WILL be crowded and if you are travelling by road, entry and egress will be slow.
There's quite a bit of ground to cover, take decent, waterproofed shoes and a brolly, and a good supply of photographic gear....whichever day you chose, there WILL be lots of photo 'ops'...and to carry all of this, you might want to consider a back pack.
All in all...ANY day at the FOS is a day well spent. You will be surprised and delighted by what you see and what you hear.

As has been said any one of the three days is time well spent.
However talking about less crowd these days are a little off. Yes there are fewer visitors on friday - but they seem to be concentrated everyone of them around the Formula 1 paddock and that place seems enormously crowded on friday! During saturday and sunday these crowds seem to stay alongside the track to care of their spot, so the paddock is generally less crowded - unless of course there is a 'luminari' in the horizon.
It depends on what you want to see. 'Naked' cars or drivers in action? Sunday is generally more the show off day with the burn outs - but sadly no do-nuts unless there is a driver that can't read the sign ;-) Last year was the exception - my trainers are still drying from the biblical deluge! Not a lot of action on the track. I hope that the later july show will give a little better weather - although I have never been to Goodwood without any shower at all... I think? It will be my tenth time this year.
I'm looking forward to it :-)
Best regards
Flemming

Now that's a weekend, indeed.
Thanks to John, Flemming and maoricar.
I think I shall do the Friday, provided SCM will be there. And I just might have a word with me mate what owns the nice Jaguars about the Le Mans classic.
Thanks again.
