Salon Geneva 1965
Is this vehicle an ISO Grifo or a Bizzarrini 3 A/C?

Posted Image

According to caption it concerns the Bizzarini exposed by Silvio Moser, the cars in the background point however on the ISO stand.
Can someone help?

Looks like a 5300GT Strada to me, but these cars can be confusing........

Great fun to drive, but in my experience, not through central London without a clutch!

I think the correct answer to this question is that car pictured at the Geneva Show in 1965 is an ISO built by Bizzarrini.

It seems to be difficult to hold apart the different models of ISO and Bizzarrini. No miracle, have all the same origin.

The problem begins already in the AR catalogue 1965

Importer of the Bizzarrini
Garage Silvio Moser, Via Trevano 7, 6900 Lugano
With the program: Bizzarini Grifo Stradale and Competizione

Importer of the ISO
W. Ramseier & Cie. SA, route des Acacias, 1211 Genéve
With the program: ISO Rivolta IR300, IR340 and IR340R

The first picture probably shows an ISO Grifo and clearly on the ISO stand in according to the exhibition plan, thus of W. Ramseier.

In contrast to the AR catalogue 1965 gave its, in according to the official ISO Internet site, the following models of the two marks:

ISO Rivolta GT, were built from 1962 to 1970.
ISO Grifo Series I und II, were built from 1963 to 1974
ISO Grifo 3 A/C, were built from 1963 to 1965
Bizzarrini A3/C, were built on 1965 (9 Vehicles)
Apparently ISO does not permit Bizzarrini to use the name Grifo.
The 5300GT Strada was started in 1966.

Now Silvio Moser had a stand at Geneva and had exposed a vehicle.

Possibly an ISO was also shown by Bertone

Here still another picture of a Bizzarrini A3/C (3 A/C) Competizione, was however not exposed in Geneva.

Hello Iso Bizzarrini friends,

The car at the Geneva 1965 show is an ISO A3C.
Actually it is chassis #B*0211.
As far as I know the car was owned by Mr. René Blaettler from Lausanne CH and from 1970 by Mr. Ingve Eriksson, Sweden. In 2004 Ingve sold the car to Italy.

From chassis #B*0224 the A3C's were badged "Bizzarrini".

Ciao,
Jack Koobs de Hartog

This thread just reminded me of San Diego Automotive Museum I visited in 2003.

They exhibit a Bizzarini spider of 1966 vintage according to above link.

David,

I can tell you that indeed there are some sources telling that #218 was at the Geneva Show. I don't say that this wasn't so but there are some documents from Bizzarrini and Drogo stating that it was #211.
I hope Bjorn can tell us why he thinks it was #218.

Ciao,
Jack

Things are even more complicated.
During the 1965 Geneva show Bizzarrini also had a car for road tests available for the press. Probably this was chassis B*0208.
I love those Bizzarrini mysteries

Ciao,
Jack

Believes the solution lies somewhere between the vehicles mentioned.

The current owner of the B00211 had me mentioned also Lausanne, however could not surely say the names (Renè Bleffer or Blaettler), the license plats begin there with VD xxxx.
Mr. Ingve Eriksson from Sweden has on 12.08.1970 bought this car at Stans with the license plats NW 5759, both place and plats are correct for this part of Switzerland.

The current owner, let clear the different colours away, and against all data the first colour was blue. While there are apparently no differences between the data from the interior.
Also the year of construction is correctly 1964, however the distribution date from factory is later than some vehicles with a higher frame number. This car must not necessarily been sold by Silvio Moser.

The illustrated vehicle in the Automobile Revue from 17.03 1965, is clearly on the official ISO Rivolta stand, and not on Silvio Moser’s stand written in the appropriate text (from Adriano Cimarosti). The car right in the back could be a Maserati, in addition the Citroen board is clearly to recognize.

Posted Image

Securely there was also a stand from Silvio Moser with an A3C exposed.

If had Bizzarrini also a road test car with him, must been three cars of the type A3C in Geneva 1965.

Which and where?
