It was based on 1973 BIRRANA 273, chassis #006, not 274.......
I stand corrected...

The team gave up on the Minos early on in the 76 F2 season, buying a Chevron B35 instead for Bob M. He put that car on the front row at Nogaro (??) in July 76, up against some v fast cars/drivers.

Your presumption is very correct about being based on one of the Birrana's raced in F/A, Bob Muir could match the best of competitors in his time....... Cheers, Peter N.................................Originally posted by Mallory Dan
I presume it was based on 1 of the 2 Birranas raced here in FAt in 1975. Muir ran most of the year, and got progressively quicker, the 2nd car ran occasionally for Dean Hosking.

The text in the book is a little unclear about the car. "Although entered in a Birrana he actually raced his Minos." So, was this car "the" Minos in question?
I really must have a long talk with Bill Downey one day.

Tony couldn't have been involved for long, if he ever was, of course...
You blokes should learn that sometimes I have reason for posting what I do:

There must also have been some reason for the grid sheets, practice times and results of the AGP to have had 'Minos' typed on them. It was certainly there!
Could it be, perhaps, that Bernie just called it a Birrana, Bill realised it wasn't and changed his entry after having arranged to drive the car, then it returned to Bernie and its anonymity?

[B]Who can tell me more about the Minos F2 drived by Brian Muir at Thruxton in 1976. He crashed in the first lap.
To this day, i still cannot get my head around the logic behind producing this one off disaster of car..... surely they did'nt belive they could produce a winner or place geta........

One unanswered question here, let's see if we can get an answer to this one...
Did Bob Muir race the Birrana or the Minos at Cadwell Park?

Extremely doubtful. There was a restriction on engine sizes and power at Cadwell during that period at least. Whilst Formula Three visited - often resulting in some badly bent cars - there was nothing higher to my knowledge in those days.
