Do you have the dates of the first and third rounds to help narrow it down?

For 1968 I have the following dates:

7th April; 28th April; 16th June; 21st July; & 15th September.

I suspect that there would have been a meeting in May and one in August as is the case now.

I know nothing about this topic, but I suggest that it would help to give venues.

Sorry D-Type! All the BARC Hillclimb Championship events were either at Harewood or Gurston Down. The dates I gave were for Harewood only.

Round 1 of the 11 event series was 7th April Harewood. Round 3 was 12th May Pontypool. I cannot find a reference to which event was round 2 but on 28th April BARC had hillclimbs at Harewood and Brunton so it seems likely it was one of these. Harewood was a National so seems to be the most likely candidate. However Autosport carried a "Club News" item on it in the 15th March issue but does not mention any championship status so maybe not!

I've been through the 'Forthcoming Events' in the 1968 Motoring News papers and found the following BARC hillclimbs listed.

April 7 - Harewood
April 28 - Harewood
May 26 - Gurston Down
June 9 - Brunton
June 16 - Harewood
June 23 - Pontypool
July 21 - Harewood (novices & vintage)
July 28 - Gurston Down
September 1 - Pontypool
September 1 - Gurston Down
September 15 - Harewood
September 29 - Pontypool
October 6 - Olivers Mount
October 6 - Gurston Down

I have no way of knowing which events qualified for the championship though I would think the novices and vintage one on July 21 would not qualify.

The strange thing is that the Motoring News report of the Brunton round on June 9 refers to it being "the sixth round of the current BARC Hill Climb Championship."

That probably answers which was round 2. Goodliffe was 2nd in class behind Peter Kaye at Harewood 28th April 68.
