Lewis Hamilton came through complete chaos at times to take his maiden victory in the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix. He got off the line well, saw off the challenge of his teammate Alonso at turn 1, and drove a copybook race to take an outright lead in the drivers' championship.

The scariest moment of the day without doubt was the accident involving Robert Kubica. I'm sure many of you reacted just the same when i say i screamed in horror at the screen. The replays were utterly awful. I'm so glad he is alive first and foremost, although the unfortunate news came through at the end of the race that the Polish driver has suffered a suspected broken leg.

Results from Montreal......

First of all. The new safety car rules are totally crap, they turned the thing into a lottery.

And second, I hate wide run off areas because they forgive all the mistakes, but seeing Kubica’s crash I might reconsidered

This race was AMAZING for all the wrong reasons.

Drivers of the day for me: Hamilton, Heidfeld, Wurz, Sato (pass on Alonso was hilariously stunning)

I haven't seen the accident but there was talk of it going into a concrete wall. If it was a tyre wall there might have been less damage, so that could be an improvement.

Ferrari: get schumacher back into that car.

McLaren: doing a great job and Lewis is showing he isnt going to get over for Alonso but he wants that number 1 on the car. Alonso making to many little mistakes.Wurz, kovalainen and Sato: fantastic stuff, im very happy for the Williams team especially.

O yes and the new SC rules suck.

Nothing wrong with a lottery every now and then. Great entertainment and shakes it up a bit.

Otherwise, F1 gets too boring.

well done lewis

shame we have to listen to allens drivel but there you go.

what a shocking drive by alonso. off 4 times.

ferrari are back to the drawing board. no speed and lack of control from the pitwall. where was the reminder to massa to hold for the red? and it just gets worse for raikonnen damaged front wing or not.

new safety car rules questionable in terms of fairness.

great drive by sato. showing up his more illustrious and precious colleagues

thank God Robert Kubica only has a broken leg, very nasty shunt.

Takuma Sato you are a star.

Lewis Hamilton is an even bigger star, flawless first win.

Massa will be pretty shitty with how his day ended I'd imagine. Rules are rules though.

Ferrari shoukd get rid of KR and after today's race, I'm not sure whether FM, FA and GF are idiots or what?

Congratulations to LH, NH, AW, HK and TS!
This race had everything (and too much), it seems like Montreal mayhem is to repeat every ten years!

Hamilton and Heidfeld deserved their places, 100% right from the start. Wurz lucked into it a bit. ITV are bastards not showing the post race press conference.

I think webber would have deserved a podium after crawling back from 15th after taking on kubica, but stupid stupid team tactics prevented it.

and alonso must have had a problem or he has some sort of north american continernt allergy, to be overtaken by the bottom team....

Its a pity Alonso got carried away at the start again because he was the fastest man this weekend and had a strong chance to win even from second. Im pretty sure he must of had some braking problems into T1 to lose it that many times though. Poor race but he will be back.
Im not sure whats happening with Kimi he seemed to be slow all weekend, plus he made silly mistakes also. He really looks lost at sea.

Well done Hamilton  ... it's so enjoyable watching him on Setanta :)

Also well done to Heidfeld, Wurz, Kovalinen, and Sato

Finally, and most importantly thank God Kubica only has a broken leg ... I really did think it was Imola '94 all over again ... we were lucky today.

Amazing, #1. Lewis Hamilton. No comments.

Amazing #2. Thanks God Kubica is fine (considering the accident). As for the reasons, Jackie Stewart said once that cars are now safe, but drivers became dangerous. This accident reminded me about that. The image is not clear in TV, so I don't know if Kubica was overoptimistic or if Trulli just closed the door on a dangerous place. Anyway, it's clear that the duo tried to put a pair of cars in a place where only one would fit. Kubica was unlucky too because there's a bump on the escape area, which catapulted the car.

Back to the results... a day for the second drivers to remember! Wurz & Kova must be really happy.

As for the penalties, I'm not sure if Fisi and Massa are to blame - I remember some drivers telling that it's up to the team to tell them about the red light (they're way too busy to notice it in time). That said, both were doing a very good race up that point.

Kimi slept at the restarts, again.

Fernando... either he had a bad car since the beginning... or he simply felt the pression and overdrove?

Honda strategy, what a joke...

The ****ing SC ruined the race but it was nevertheless very entertaining...farce but entertaining.
Hamilton owned Alonso today...infact if one came from andromeda one could be forgiven if S/he got the impression that the rookie was Alonso while the veteran defending champion wasHamilton!

Sato got TWO big scalps today..First Raikonen then as the t in (Top) Alonso...that Outside pass will become a classic.

Get well soon Kubica

WDC/WCC is almost gone for Ferrari :|

Congrats to Hamilton! I can't believe how many mistakes Alonso did today. Great drives by Nick, Wurz & Heikki, too. For me, besides Hamilton, the driver of the race was Sato and it's a shame he didn't finish higher as he was pretty competitive all day. He passes on Kimi (early in the race), Ralf & Fernando were awesome.

Hamilton 1st win, great performance, he did it easily. Now is clear 8 points in front in WDC. It is a good advantage.

Problems for Ferrari. WCC clearly behind McLaren (88-60)

Very happy for Niki, Wurz and Kova.

Hideous race for Alonso. Probably worst since he began in 2001. 4 times off at turn 1. Either damaged something in his excursions or brake problems. Don't know, let's wait for his impressions.

Safety car rules extremely complicated.

This GP has got the biggest number of incidents in many years. Kubica's crash looked horrible at first sight.

glad to hear that Kubica is ok (more or less) what an accident

Hamilton, Heidfeld
Alonso is nowhere without the best car & a lackey teammate :rotfl:
Raikonken, wtf was that? Still did "better" than Massa :rotfl:
Massa, Fisichella
Hovalenin, Sato

FIA rules :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
- so, if you enter the pits on red you get 10 sec/penalty, but if you exit on red you get disqualified  :rotfl:
- also the rules with lapped drivers can pass it's stupid & dangerous

all in all, McLaren in a league on their own, Ferrari nowhere.
Good 4 Ferrari that Alonso was 0 :rotfl:

I don´t. The danger will always be there. You can make them race in Nevada desert but the cars can still hit each other. 100% safe F1 will never exist, unless we ban open cockpits and limit the speeds to 100 KPH.

The crash was unfortunate, but things like that can happen. Even on Tilkedromes.

Lewis

Perfect. A win cannot be more deserved than this one.

Nick

Equally deserved 2nd place. So great to see Nick on podium!

Wurz

Lucky, but also solid race. Shame Rosberg had bad luck.

Heikki

Lucky, but great driving passing cars and holding off Kimi.

Kimi

Bad start from the dirty side. Had to wait for Massa on first pitstop. Broken front wing. One has to give him some credit for recovering points after all that.

Sato!!!

Good stuff...

I won´t give thumbs down to anyone for now :) Too many questions. Did Alonso have damage, too? What caused the Kubica crash? And so on...

What a crazy race. Did you want a thrilling race ... there you got !! ^_^

I don't exactly where to beging.

Well, first of all, let's hope kubica it's ok. It was an incredible accident. I was fearing the worst.

Congrats to Hamilton. He made a perfect race with no mistakes. Same to Heidfield and wurz. This guys
also were a little bit fortunate not to be involved in safety cars problems, the main thing going on today on the circuit.

Alonso made more mistakes in one race than in the two previous seasons. In some moments he showed the speed he has inside,
and at the end he seemed to strugle and Sato passed him. A shame, he deserved to be more in front despite his errors. He suffered
by the safety cars.

Kovalainnen made it to the top 4. If fisichella hadn't been banned ( and massa ) he could had been in the top five too.

The scariest accident I've seen in F1 since I began watching in 1996. Incredible if he only has a broken leg.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant from Hamilton, Heidfeld and Sato.

Less so from Alonso and the Ferrari drivers.

I'm very pleased to see Wurz and Heikki scoring well.

I'm not at all pleased by some (one?) of the safety car/pitlane rules.

And can a moderator please do something about idiots like slapstick and Keverich, who used the time after Robert's accident to continue their usual puerile nonsense.

The piss poor strategy by some teams leave sone bewlildered at times. Namely Honda and RBR.

RBR should hang their heads in shame, if they pitted Mark right away on the second last SC he finishes ahead of KR .... diabolical team work, really woeful.

Some people moaning about SC's, they were all called for, what else can you do?

Besides, what's the difference between passing a red light going in and going out of the pitlane?

Rosberg and Alonso get a 10 second penalty, which is completely meaningless in this Safety Car hopping excuse for a race, and Fisichella and Massa get a DQ? :drunk:
