No-one seems to have started a thread.

The two iSport drivers hit each other at the start but one of the Racing Engineering drivers has had a huge crash - looks like Ernesto Viso.

OMG WHAT A START!!

Those marshalls were so lucky not to have been hit by that car!!!

And Glock and Zuber are both fools, they both went into eachother.

This race isn't stand under a good star, two heaviest collisions and Lapierre driving over a member of his pitcrew.

copied from the gp2 car thread:

HOLY ****!!

edit: two cars (glock and his team-mate eliminate) crash even before the turn one, then one of the red bulls rolls over the barrier, in an extremely scary looking crash. during the safety car period one of the cars hit a mechanic in the pits.
****ing unbelievable.

red flag.

i'm uploading the start on youtube, it will take around 10minutes.

edit: video showing both of the accidents.

Any news on Viso? Is he hurt?

That was an absolutely insane first lap.

Hard to tell from Eurosport, they're talking about what happens if it rains.

was glock hurt? it seems he was hit by a wheel.

i'm really worried about the guy who rolled on the barrier, i recall a similar fatal accident in F3, almost on the same part of the circuit.

Er, yes. I guess it must be amusing if you enjoy seeing a driver potentialy lose his life or cause himself serious injury.

Replay shows that the car hits the wall directly with cockpit opening on the wall and then hit the rack of a billboard.

very concerned faces on the grid.

just watched the replay in slo-mo, his helmet either hit or was no more than a few inches from hitting the barrier.

It really would be a malacious interpretation... to rather assume one of the worst than give the benefit of doubt incase. BTW the accident wasn't shown or I haven't seen before the comment.

Bruno Michel discussing with Briatore on the grid, it looks like that the result of the crash isn't that bad.

From Premiere, Viso is extracted that he has some arm injuries but nothing serious, hopefully its OK. Racing Engineering Teamchief is looking positive.

Excuse me, some of us don't have any access to this race; consequently, we don't know the severity of this incident.

Now that I'm reading some the subsequent posts, I realize that the accident was enormous and that the safety of everyone involved is vastly more important than anyone's running position in the race.

Think they are a bit unclear how to go one with the race.

Isport is working on their cars, wondering if they really allow to restart?

I would think they could now that the race has been stopped and if its restarted from lap 1 it would be a whole new race meaning the cars could restart.. I think! :)

They still do that in F1?

Crash.net has a link to a story about the accident, but does not work. Still hope this is okay. Talking to Flav, does not mean anything. When Dale Earnhardt died, the announcers were still cheering on the racers.

eurosport commentators talk of (possible?) arm and neck injuries.
from the replay it looked to me that the helmet did hit the wall on first impact.
he may just have had his head pushed down into the cockpit though. (campos i believe hit the wall in a 90 degree angle down the corner)

I can tell you from the GP2 paddock that Viso has gone to the medical centre, was conscious and responding well to questions, but complaining of arm pains. He has gone to the local hospital for further check ups.

Race about to restart now, under safety car, and will last another 38 laps.

Campose fliped forward and fell right on top of the wall. Sickening. From what I can tell Viso did not do that. But either way hitting your head on the wall will compress the vertabrae.

At Cleveland last year, Sebastien Bourdais had his bell rung by Paul Tracy's car(kind of like Wurz/ Coulthard) resulting in a comcussion.

Just hope he is okay and can race again.

It looks to be a bit chaos in the GP2 race, from interview with Fisi race will go only 17:01 - 17:14. Now its said the race should go only 26 laps. :stoned:

The only good news are that Viso isn't seriously injured, Glock and Zuber are also OK.
