Hello all,
Could someone please prvovide me with specific informations about what Heland gearboxes were used in the 1976 Tyrrell P34 and the 1974 Lotus 72.
Some further dimensional informations about those Hewlands would be helpful as well.
Thank you very much in advance.

I'm fairly sure all DFV cars of this era used FG400s...
These combined the FT200 gears with the differential of the DG300. They were lighter than the DG, and most significantly much lower in inertia.

Barry Lock used the FG400 behind the Cosworth Vega in the SR781 Kaditcha Sports Car and it is still with it today.

May by you have to ask directly by Hewland?
On the site you can find the manual.
http://www.hewland.c...vga/manuals.htm
Also drawings, but only DG300 remains nearly the same. FG400 have changed to FGC.
The FT200 has still the same name but the gearbox is changed.

From the beginning, the Hewland FG400 transmission was subject of continues changes.
FG400-1, probably the first transmission of this type, built on the end of 1967 to the beginning of 1968. The first time used in the Brabham Repco BT24-3 in GP Spain at Jarama 1968.

FG400-GR-X, according to Hewland this number to not corresponds here system.
This transmission was probably built by Brabham or by Frank Williams, between 1968 and at the beginning of 1969.

FG400-X, (without photo) was likewise built on the latest at the beginning of 1969.
This Housing lucks on the outside like the FG400-GR-X, with a few changes on the inside.
These three transmissions were taken over from Frank Williams on 14.05.1969.
