When Jackie Stewart was racing, he had to make a big decision when signing his first contract with Ken Tyrrell.
"I remember the first contract I had with Ken Tyrrell, because it was five pounds," Stewart said. "Ken offered me the choice between giving me the five pounds or giving me £10,000 in return for ten per cent of my worldwide income for ten years," he continued. "That was a big decision, and I had to think about it overnight because I didn't have any advisers."
"I guessed there would be money in becoming a professional, so I went for the five pounds." he added.

Good decision though - how much money did Jackie make in those ten years? Given the sponsor contacts he made I would have to think it was a lot more than 100k ...
Worth a try though, Ken - could have subsidised your team for a while on that deal ...

True but a pound was worth a bit more in those days. That's a funny story.
