In 1964, Renault gave the green light for a Gordini version of the 4 cylinders 1000 cc to be fitted in F2 cars. Alpine and René Bonnet take the challenge and it was the very first René Bonnet single seater.
The thing began at Pau with Gérard Laureau and the very young Jean-Pierre Beltoise.
