What's with all the facial hair?

I was surprised to see Alonso turn up in Turkey after the summer break having apparently not bothered shaving since the Hungarian GP! He managed a quick shave before the weekend at least, but it's a worrying trend after Heidfeld seemed to forget how to do it after the end of last season, to join hairy-faced Coulthard and Button.
It would be something if they could actually grow a proper one, like Watson in the 70s or Mansell's 'tache which would have scared off most Bics! But today's drivers just look like scruffy kids who can't be bothered. They could probably afford to have scantily-clad bimbos do if for them every morning, if they can't be bothered to shave themselves!

Alonso, however, looks more like he wants to be Zorro, although that would explain Hamilton's tyre failure on Sunday.

You're 60 years old and angry at the "kids these days who don't know how to behave", aren't you?
Moustaches are horrible.

It is very noticeable if you go through the Sutton Gallery for example that a driver is much more likely to have a beard during testing than at during the race weekend.

I don't mean to sound like a grumpy old man, but frankly the efforts of these lads are pathetic!Originally posted by paranoik0

And I'd forgotten about Keke Rosberg - a fine example of a 70s porn star 'tache!

I'll get really worried if smooth-faced Lewis goes the same way as the others, although that would probably scupper the 10-million dollar contract Gilette are drawing up around now.....

All the adverts for gilette are so goofy anyway, lets have something different this time
Lewis, with shaving foam on his bonce, shaving his hair off.

Or you're not winning? Wasn't there a time in the 80/90s that Ferrari mechanics wouldn't shave until they started winning again....

I think they gave up at some point.

Yeah, that wasn't a bad attempt, but dates back to before this current trend got started. And besides, with Jacques the effect was kind of spoilt by the fact that there was less hair on top of his head....Originally posted by former champ
how about Villeneuve's beard on the podium at the Spanish GP in 2001? He looked like he had just auditioned for the lead part in Castaway.![]()
