Great to hear that Karl-Heinz Becker finally has a win in EuroBOSS (a case of “to finish first, first you have to finish ? ). I remember Karl-Heinz first of all as a regular in Interserie, twenty years ago. He came to England for the Brands Hatch round in 1990 in an elegant Lola T600-BMW, one of the nicest looking cars of the 1980’s .
Many may recall Karl-Heinz in his Interserie Minardi. He was second to the much-missed “Frederico Careca” in the fantastic race at Donington in 1995 when the top 3 were separated by half a second. He was crowned the Interserie Div 1 champion at the end of that year.
He ran his F1 Minardi (sans mudguards) in EuroBOSS. I recall seeing him have a high-speed accident at Thruxton in 2000 but he came back and raced in the UK again in 2002 at Donington.
Well done, Karl-Heinz.

Of course, this was after the time Interserie was competed with Porsche 917-10 etc. in the seventies.
Karl-Heinz Becker was also well known for his infamous/bulbous Luigi Colani styled Group 5 BMW 320, which he ran in the good old "Deutsche Rennsportmeisterschaft".
Colani 320
It is the model in the top right corner.

Many of the 1990s Interserie cars were former F1 and Indycars running with covered wheels in the Can-Am class. Some of these modifications were elegant designs; others looked like Austin 7 mudguards !!! Best/worst example of the latter was Ranieri Randaccio's F1 Fondmetal.
Check out http://www.racingspo...interserie.html to see some of these wonderful Interserie F1 hybrids

The car wasn't too bad really (like all Becker's cars); he did not have enough money to get a works kit for his car, so this was a different solution. Mind you, in later years the car even received a turbo engine...

Especially, after the started the turbo project !
Living close to Nuremberg and having worked for quite some years at and for the Norisring race, I really enjoyed the old Gr. 5 days.

yes , his T600 was nice in red sheme but later this car became ugly (shortailed...).
