If cars and races are not entertaining enough for you, go somewhere else. The last thing I want to see is a bunch of blonde bimbos dressed in silver/red cheering for Hakkinen and Schumi in ponpons and mini-skirts!!!!

How would you define "into"? I'm really not sure what you're on about.

I think the women on this BB might beg to differ.

Why would what I have to say be of any less value than other's comments because I'm an admin?

The problem is I think those two are mutually exclusive. You aren't going to get women race fans by parading a bunch of other women around in spandex and swimsuits. Same goes for female drivers...if women are treated as objects by race fans and promoters, they aren't likely to want to get involved in such a sport.

While I would dearly love to see women drivers in F1, I find the 'jordan babes' and similiar displays to be downright annoying, a 1970's throwback and look forward to the time such nonsense is forgotten. I have no doubt that sort of thing is offputting to some who would like the sport.
Shaun
PS I have known numerous women who were very into and knowledgeable about F1.

I'm into F1 because of the shiny 3-litre-rockets-on-wheels.
That said, I don't understand why a female fan would feel uneasy and even become uninterested in F1, because of the existance of said babes.
If, as someone mentioned, it was 'bodybuilding hunks' that presented the cars and went around the paddock, although I wouldn't be interested in them, I certainly would neither feel insulted nor lose my interest in F1 because of them. I would accept it as part of the whole 'package'.
And anyway, it's not like these girls are exploited or anything. They are paid well and I'm sure they enjoy what they are doing.
But, this is only a male fan's opinion of course and I might not be seeing the whole thing clearly

But I just don't find it such big a deal to begin with. Certainly though, if there were even more girls and even more girls, that might become annoying. I agree.
But watching from the TV, I don't see much of them anyway.
Erja is the only female that stays long enough on-camera to remember her face. The Jordan girls I am mostly familiar with, because they keep popping up when I download race pictures!

Just to even things up on the battle of the sexs they ran Davina Galica in the car as well.
Why have no female drivers really climbed to the top? (and dont give me that "no support garbage- If a woman driver was good enough she would get the biggest sponsorship deal in history)

If I remember correctly, the main hindrance for females are sponsors, and the team's unwillingness to stick their feet into cold water. But there are a few ladies who hope to get a drive one day. There was actually a quite interesting interview of one lady.
I'm sure you should be able to find the article in the archives of AtlasF1, since it was posted sometime this year

As for women not liking f1 once introduced to the sport my wife became a complete fanatic. She watches every race and every qualifying and just loves it.
For me everything outside of the racing the cars the stratigies and the people directly involved in the sport are mere diversions. No cheerleaders in hockey no cheerleaders in f1.
P.S. Sooner or later there will be women f1 drivers. As with men the more women involved the more of a chance of finding a dominant driver. I look forward to the day it happens.
