Since I'll be in Prague next Saturday for a very short visit, I might have some time to do some shopping. Is there any bookshop which could be recommended, since there may be one or two books on Czech Motorsport I'd like to buy.

There's loads in the city centre. There's one on Mala Stupartska behind the Tyn (where they have the House of the gold Ring). There's also one on the pedestrian street that runs from the Old Town Square, going past the church and heading towards the Cubist Museum. not specialist shops, obviously, but worth a look.

Frank,

If you don't already have "our own" Michal Velebný's "Ceskoslovenské Formule", I can highly recommend it! A very comprehensive chronological compilation of (mostly) post-war Czech single-seaters 500cc F3, Formula Junior, Formula 3, Formula Skoda, Formula Easter and Formula Mondial. Yes, there's even a Formula Ford, which I believe is actually a carry-over from the last UK Quest FF.

"Československé formule" is a great book indeed but I doubt that it is possible to buy it in an ordinary bookshop. I visited many during my trip to Czech Republic in July and didn't find any motorsport-related book there - except popular modern Formula 1 guides.

However, if the National Technical Museum is open now (in July, Michal said that it would be re-opened in September), there must be a bookshop or something like this...

Thanks for the tips so far - I'll check out the museum if it's open.

There's a history of F3000 with lots of decent photos, presumably cos Tomas Enge won races in it.

Specialized bookstore about traffic literature is Kant CZ, they moved recently I don't know exactly where, is it near Masarykovo nadrazi railway station and automobiles are not the main profile. New books is possible to buy in every bigger bookstore everywhere.

When I was there in August 2006 I went to a big general new bookstore on the major and very wide street that runs from the old town towards the new part of Prague. This may be the street that ensign14 referred to. They had a small but very interesting car section, and I came away with "Eliska Junkova" and "100 Years Of The Czech Motorcycle Sport". I'd check there (no pun intended), but it will be pot luck.

Not a bookshop but a noteworthy place nevertheless (the upper end of Nerudova street, near Pohořelec square, Malá strana) :

I didn't have much time in Prague, but still managed to find the book above at "Knihkupectvi Letná", Veverkova 16/1407 Praha 7. A nice little bookshop with a tiny car section. I'd love to have found the "100 years" book too, but no luck.

Ceskoslovenské Formule is packed with pictures of days long past - it looks like it has been made with great passion. A cracker (Czech text only, but the pictures make it worthwhile anyway).

This is interesting, does it cover the F3000 years between 1986-1990?

Yes, but not much on the Super Prix, a paragraph about the race and a photo (usually of a driver in the pits).

Thank you for your response by the way!
