Partly my point, ensign - it is not the fault of the younger generation, however, that f1 is portrayed as having been the greatest thing on four wheels since time immemorial. On the other hnd, it does not take much to discover otherwise.

Where does anyone from the team say that?

Read between the lines:
Whitmarsh said: "The reality is that Lewis is now an absolutely proven product. He can lead a team and he can be the talisman that can take us to a championship."
Will they want to subject their precious talisman to pressure from within?

Lewis himself has said he would prefer a team mate who keeps him on his toes.

Feel the power of zeppo's bashing and tremble, puny mortals

do the names montoya, alonso, villeneuve ring any bells?
The middle one does - he was Champion twice on the trot and missed it by one point the next year, wasn't he??

"I've always said that I didn't want to retire without having won at least one. Now that target has been reached. Now I want more, as many as possible. Starting from the next one," the Finn told Corriere dello Sport.
I would say that it´s normal for most people to set goals taking it one step at a time. First a GP win, then a WDC, then as many as possible. Lewis has the win. His focus should now be on his first WDC, not on how many before even the first one is in the bag. It´s about keeping your feet firmly on the ground and being realistic I think.

When it comes to "keeping your feet on the ground" Hamilton and Räikönnen represent the extreme, opposite ends of the stick in the current field, that's certain.

Alonso has already bested Schumacher weather he will equal MS' WDC total remains to be seen, as it stands now it is advantage Alonso on the basis of beating Schumacher toe to toe. Let’s not forget that Jacques finished in front of Schumacher every time he had a car capable of the task. I will grant you Montoya did not meet expectations, great talent but undisciplined. Some of you Schumacher fans always have to take it too far. Sorry about the OT but these guys need correcting from time to time.

Thanks very much. Your intervention was essential. Now we know Alonso bested Schumacher, as much as Villeneuve has bested Schumacher. Or Hill did, or Hakkinen, or Raikkonen also. Patrese too ! Patrese is a very good example of a driver who has bested Schumacher but also had to face the comparaison in equal cars.

now - equality demands - who´s the leading driver of car number 23?
and they are sure that this equality is a better equality than last years equality: for sure this will put them on a wdc chance.

It's been 10 years since a WDC for McLaren. What did Ron say after 2000? 21 years before Ferrari won another. Perhaps Ron was projecting his own future.

Who the hell doesn't?????"Hamilton wants to be the best of all time."

Now there's criticism for having the audacity to think about winning and plan for it... Oh, the humanity.
