During seven years, from 1985 to 1991, Louis Descartes built sportscar under the name of ALD (Automobiles Louis Descartes).
He was born in 1951 and after a brief racing career, began to built his first car in 1983. He engaged it in a race at Montlhéry in 1985, then directly to Le Mans where it DNF.
Between 1985 and 1991 he engaged 12 cars at Le Mans.
For the 1991 season, he built his first carbon chassis with a Cosworth V8 3,3 liters : The ALD C91.
But, he dead at the end of december in a terrible road crash. It was the end of the adventure.
