Jim Rattenbury of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, passed away December 30. After a brief stay in hospital, he had a stroke. We had planned to celebrate his 90th birthday, but not to be! He would have been 90 on March 5. His widow, Connie, said she was glad that some of us got together with him at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in October. Here is the link to the obituary. There is a guest book too:

Tom Johnston has emailed me some things, so we'd like to present a tribute to Jim. First, a page from the Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society yearbook:

Next, Jim's cars:

The Rattenbury Mk 4 today. The car used some Genie parts, including the body. The last I heard, this car is owned by Julio Palmaz in Texas, and Grand Prix Classics in La Jolla, California had it for sale.

Finally, Jim in recent years:

Jim at the Abbotsford Retrospective in 2005. This was a reunion of those involved in racing at the Abbotsford, B.C. airport track in the 1950's. (That's me in the background with the hat).

Fellow 50's and 60's racer Ken Finnigan (left) with Jim at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, October 2007. Jim was a member there for many years. After racing, he lived in England for a few years, and built a boat which he and wife Connie sailed across the Atlantic and back to Vancouver!
