A question for people who, just like me, tweak rFactor with editing the plr.file... I am playing the 1991 historical mod again, which is a blast... it's just that the traction out of corners of the AI cars drive me crazy. They drive away from me after the apex and on the straight they fly towards my rearwing, even if I know that I am using a lot less wing than the AI cars. Any remedies, tips, etc?

Can someone give me a little advice?

I am looking for an F1 game with low minimum specs to play online multiplayer, without monthly costs like iRacing.

I have rFactor & have just downloaded the F1 Total 2012 modification. Does anyone use this and if so can it be played online and are there people playing?

Can anyone reccommend anything or give any advice? Thanks.

If your hardware isn't very strong, adjust your graphics settings to get more fps. Even with all low settings you can do top times if your fast.

You can find lots of mods and tracks over here: www.rfactorcentral.com

XtremeRPM is a good league and season starts soon: www.xtremerpm.org

Some rFactor 2 info but nonetheless worth posting - http://www.virtualr....dy-500-licensed

This is brilliant news imo, I've been waiting for a good Indycar sim for ages.

For those who haven't played rFactor 2, it's still WIP but it's amazing, the feel from the wheel and the car tyre physics are such a huge step up, and the Marussia MR02 is a pleasure to drive. Save for a lack of traction in slow corners, it's probably the most realistic representation of an F1 car I've driven in a racing sim.

RFactor 2 seems to be adding much more character to the sim this time round than a lot of the new releases, and I like that they're going in that direction - marshalls waving flags, licensed historic cars and tracks, dynamic rubber build-up on the track that really affects grip...

and it might even get released before 2017!

Asseto Corsa will kill it off I think.

You reckon? RFactor 2 is very much a playable game right now - I think it will be near or at gold version come the end of the year. It's certainly ahead of Asseto Corsa in terms of development at the minute. It has better licenses than Asseto Corsa, but it remains to be seen if the physics differences are notable.

Rfactor 2 is just not cutting it for me at the moment. In fact its a mess. It has some superb technical functions as well as some interesting content but its like having an amazing jigsaw puzzle that's not quite fitting together. The F2 cars are awesome but the Clio's are worse than an Rfactor mod. The track feel and physics are very good but then the rain effects are worse than a PS1 game. I am sure they will get there in the end but at the moment its a not go for me.

How many years is now since RF (1) came out? Pity they seem to have lost resources because the simulator has a lot of potential. Wonder where the F1 teams are putting their money?
How would you compare RF2 (the parts that are working) with iRacing?

IRacing for me is more useable and more complete at the moment but it lacks a lot of detail. It can feel very sterile and emotionless. It also lacks weather which, although is pretty poor at the moment in Rfactor 2, at least Rfactor 2 is addressing it and will get it right eventually. For me and this is a personnel opinion (shared by many other Europeans), the lack of European cars gives me very little interest in playing it. I know they are addressing this with a Honda BTCC car but it would be more appealing if you had a few more interesting European cars like Clio Cup, Caterham's, Lotus Elise's etc. Saying that, the content, if you like it is very good, especially the tracks.

Honestly, both sim's are good and have great potential but are still lacking so much. If I had to pick one for a more complete package, then at the moment it would have to be Iracing as it has more tracks, a more complete base product and lots of racers online.

The F1 teams use a source code version of Rfactor pro. At least mclaren do.

Hi everyone, don't know if you've tried rf2 lately, but the recent builds (300/342) have greatly enhanced pretty much every aspect of it (in particular graphics with HDR profiles integration, track & weather evolving conditions, tire model, etc...). I've never tried iRacing but for what I've seen and read, I don't think the "simulating" aspects can compete with rf2's ones. And I think it's important to understand that a lot of people who like to simrace, don't necessarily want to fiddle with their car's setups at the (rather) technical level of rf2 (custom) settings. Personally, I do, and to me that's a big part of the pleasure I can take in this kind of (serious) game, but I can understand that some people just want to have fun racing with other people/AIs without racking their *head* off in order to just stay on the track (and probably rFactor is not the best choice for these persons). So, it's once again a case of "temet nosce" - knowing yourself, and if what you like is rather on the "simulation of reality" side and simply put, you like to DRIVE, even all alone on a far-east track... then rFactor(1&2) is for you and you won't be disappointed in the long term, I guarantee that (considering the huge modding community & existing material). Now, I'd have a little question for those who like me are currently getting their hands on the latest rf2 builds...: did you find any efficient method to maintain tires' temperature above 90°C even in straight lines...? :) Have fun!

Just to show what Scalino says, here is a comparison from the first rF2 build, to the newest (342)

I don't think that track was made by ISI. It might be a conversion of an rF 1 track. Besides, when it comes to looks, you can only do so much with a modern underpowered F1 car on a bland modern F1 track.
