Cor - hadn't seen that one before. Interesting and very different to the early '73 and '74 boxes - Obviously a line of experimentation that didn't pay off! Many thanks.

At Mosport it was used on Ceramica Pagnossin Team MRD's Brabham BT42/6 driven by Rolf Stommelen, who was replacing Andrea de Adamich after 1973 British GP first lap accident. Also in Canada it was practiced by Wilson Fittipaldi and Carlos Reutemann. Carlos didn't use it in the race, but Wilson did.
For tragic Watkins Glen race Rolf Stommelen was replaced by John Watson in a cockpit of Brabham BT42/6 which had the same airbox again (see LAT photo taken during practice above). Carlos Reutemann tried such airbox in practice, but not in the race. Wilson Fittipaldi used it in practice and in the race.
After 1973 this airbox was used only with Brabham BT42/6 in the events listed below:
- 1974 Belgian GP (Gerard Larrousse)
- 1974 Austrian GP (Helmut Koinigg)
- 1974 Italian GP (Carlo Facetti)
- 1976 Shellsport Group 8 Championship at Mallory Park (Luigi-Mimmo Cevasco).
Not sure if it was also tried by Gerard Larrousse at Dijon in 1974.

Also an interesting piece on the DYWA F1 on the same page.

I am trying to locate the current owner of the car, should he want it for the car or his colection.
Thanks to anyone who has any info.

It looks very similar to the Trojan F5000 airbox of the time.

My airbox preceeded the one that this thread originally referred to. It had probably been retired by the Canadian GP but was brought over as a spare. I probably was able to acquire it since the team wouldn't have to ship it back.
I'll see if i can locate the photos,

Hmmm... I guess you'll have to paste this address in your browser to see the photos. If you'll notice, there is a tire mark on the left side of the box. An unusual place for a tire mark, unless it was involved in the 1973 British GP debacle at the start.
Silly thought:If Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In were still in existence I suppose that might be another of their quotes "Paste THAT in your browser!"

Sorry, my mind wanders lately, often on trips I haven't even planned.

Definitely a possibility, if it came from Brabham BT42/4.
De Adamich was the only driver injured in the 1973 British GP pile up - he suffered a broken ankle (foot/leg?) after his car ploughed into the sleepers under the Motor bridge.

More than that in fact, Mike...Originally posted by Allspeed
From what I'm learning here, the airbox I have was used on many of the Brabham Team cars carrying the Pagnossin logo.

Your airbox, or one of the same design, was first used in 1972 on the BT34 of Wilson Fittipaldi (see below the pics I took at Brands just before the '72 GP)

The tyre mark can't be explained by it being having been used on de Adamich's BT42, as he was using the standard-spec original airbox during that race as my photo below and the one underneath it illustrate.

The above photo also dispels the myth that de Adamich was injured by colliding with the sleepers; in fact all the damage to both he and his car was done when he barrelled into the back of Beltoise's BRM.
For comparison, another of my pics from Silverstone '73 showing the profile of the original BT42 airbox.
