Three of them were rightly famous - XOO 344F, XOO 346F and of course XOO 349F.
But whatever happened to XOO 347F and XOO 348F ? Where did they race in 1968 (I don't think it was the UK). Any details would be gratefully received ....

These earlier threads might help answer some of the questions:

OK Tim,
I'm relatively happy with what these cars are up to, today. It's what they did in 1968 that still bugs me. And somehow I don't think there are any obviously surviving archives which will tell me . Those quotes from THE WORKS ESCORTS originated in Boreham's very scrappy files of the mid-1970s (when the original edition of that book was compiled.) At the time there was no-one at Boreham who seemed to know, or care, any more.

What was purportedly an ex works Escort ended up here in Vancouver in the mid seventies. It was converted for road racing and the last time I saw it-mid eighties-it had a turbocharged Pinto engine. I acquired the engine for the Lotus 23 I had at the time and later, in the early nineties, tracked down the magnesium cased gearbox for a racing Elan I owned. I had lost track of the Escort by the mid eighties. Does this fit in with any information anyone else has?
It's all wonderful after-the-event information but, selfishly, I'm only interested in the first year - 1968. I think XOO 347F and XOO 348F both raced in Europe (not in the UK) in that year, but I can't be sure. Guess what .... I have a new book to complete ....

In 68 one AMR Escort was recorded at ETCC Zolder, two at Nurburgring, one at Zandvoort and one at Jarama. Not at every ETCC round and there doesn't seem to have been a "long distance" car. Prior to Escort TC Gp2 homologation 1.5.68. (a prerequisite for running in Gp5) the number of Cortina appearances in Europe also now raises questions of where they all came from. With CTC24E in UK with an FVA, did the unloved (by AMR or F. Gardner specifically?) Boreham-built UVX565E do more events with AMR than is generally recognised?
Not sure if 69 is at all clear, if the FVA was banned from BSCC, despite nominally still running to Gp5.
Edit:
68 Zolder was 344 (photo on Frank de Jong's site)

347 was the Oliver car at Brands BSCC 2.9.68. (listed as "supercharged" - the infamous heater motor aimed at the inlet). I was at Brands for the BGP meeting earlier in the year but not at that one. Not that we paid attention to reg nos in the day...
Have heard stories of a Mann TC going to Australia (where it ran unregistered) via Holman and Moody in US and returning to UK (via a race in Hong Kong?). Candidate for the missing 348?

Allan Moffat ran what was supposedly an ex Alan Mann Escort in Australia in the early '70s, also raced it in Macau (Hong Kong). Don't know if it was ever returned to England though.Have heard stories of a Mann TC going to Australia (where it ran unregistered) via Holman and Moody in US and returning to UK (via a race in Hong Kong?). Candidate for the missing 348?

"It'll either be a BDA or the FVA which he ran in the older dark colour rallycross car which was the engine out of the ex-Alan Mann Mk1 Escort that Allan Moffat got out of Holman and Moody in the US and raced as a Sports Sedan in the very ealy 70's"
The quote is in regard to a Mk 1 Escort run by local Ford rally stalwart Bruce Hodgson in rallycross in the '70s.
So in regard to the original subject, could the missing ex AMR XOO 348F Escort have ended up in Australia as Moffat's sports sedan and subsequently have been 'dismantled' here?
