And there's no live chat either. #brokenbritain

It looks like the search feature isn't working, and the "view new content" feature is based on that.
We'll look into what's gone wrong here.
I've split this off into a new thread, so that the title might mean a bit more to anyone who wants to report the same issues.

same thing for 'my content', but I assume this is implicitly known already

Apparently the problem was that our Sphinx fell over during the night.
I think it's one of these rather than one of these...
Everything should be back up and running now, so let me know if the problems persist!

Fixed again.
I'm not sure what's causing this to happen so often, but we're working on a way to stop this happening and to automate this so that it can be automatically rebooted when it falls over...

sigh. Again.
Maybe all the software people have Brexited, and the site is doomed to crumble piece by piece ...

Up and running again.
One day we'll figure out why this is happening and put a proper fix in place...

FWIW, with my ancient array, haven't had any of the problems mentioned.
Of course, in the first respect, am "cheating," in that I don't use "View new content," simply check visually whether a thread/topic has a black dot next to it.
Did not encounter any difficulties in any searches I've done.
My two cents.
Anyway, didn't post that to suggest my array is preferable, and certainly not to annoy anyone, as the problems encountered by others were obviously not fictional.

For what it's worth here is my experience, in case it helps anyone. Like Zmeej, I think, I take a fairly simple approach, don't use 'View New Content', but do carry out the odd search. I've had occasional problems but I think I can tell whether it will work or not.
I must have developed the habit of searching not in the top right corner search box, but using the magnifying glass icon in that box to give me the 'search form' page with more options. For no apparent reason, sometimes the 'Find in Forum' dropdown in the middle of the search is there, sometimes it's not. If it's not there, the search won't work. If it is there, it does, although I might need to slide the highlight bar to 'Forums' (ie all) or TNF.
This may be a red herring - perhaps it's another small glitch separate to the bigger search problem - but, if the FIF dropdown isn't there, I just change the forum page from which I'm searching, try again, and usually the FIF options reappear. Without knowing anything about the software, it's as if, when the FIF option is not there, the search isn't being directed towards the data, or forums, in which we know relevant information exists.
Disclaimer - this could be a load of rubbish.....
Edit. Most of this has been sorted with help from TNF moderators/administrators.

Was fixed and worked, just cleared cache now does not work again. When the IT Smurfs return on Monday would be nice if they could straighten this out before the holidays.

Search is working fine here. Firefox 50.1.0 on Windows 10.
It sounds to me like your profile may be borked. Although have you tried Firefox Safe Mode? If everything works in that then you may have a misbehaving extension - 50.1.0 only shipped yesterday, so it could be that it's broken something.
