CM says:

"We're planning on having full length races right down to very short races for those that want it. Tyre wear and pit stops etc will be scaled accordingly so that they all still make sense. The integration of this and the lap length is still being investigated. We are not recycling tracks from GRID. They are all being built from scratch with our new, updated Ego tech in mind (which is much better than you've seen in DiRT and GRID) and will be fully researched, photographed, scanned, videoed etc. to ensure accuracy"

I loved the TOCA Race Driver games and Grid is pretty good, so its brilliant that Codemasters are doing this. Maybe we'll return to the good old days of MicroProse F1 games. It is amazing that despite the technological advances made across Racing games, there hasn't been a decent F1 game since 2002.

CM on Multiplayer:

"There's always a push for more, more, more people online (sounds great on paper), and indeed we have up to 24 catered for with our F1 game, but we've found 8 is the magic number for DiRT 2."

My problem with the f1 championship edition for ps3 is that when you race single player mode its good because you can do alot of settings in your car, but when you play online it sucks, you cant tune the car much, all you can do is opt to have brake assistence auto gear etc, things like that, but i absolutely hate the fact that 99% of the online races they have it set so that the collisions are off, and i ask myself whats the point of playing a racing game agaisnt other people if your car wont break if you hit something and you pass right thru others people car, that to me isnt racing, thats qualifying, the real beauty of it should be being able to win races because you OVERTAKE the others not drive throu them, having it set collisions off the winner is just someone whos fast, but actually drives like ****, its people using the wall to keep the car in, just stupid.

And then when you create a game and have the collision on, because all the idiots are used to racing it thru each others cars, they aren't able to brake to avoid crashing in your car, they cant even drive around your car and overtake, all they do is crash. it sucks playing with people like that, i think only once i had a game that had 11 players and collision on and pit stops, the race was about 10 laps and people actually would try to not crash... and drive like a formula one car should be driven instead of the usual mess of cars going off the track, in this one night people were actually braking before the turns!

silly kids...

Polter, have you played Moto GP 06? There the AI drivers are worse than the online players. Online most people drive politely, because when you fall, they will fall. But the AI bikes... as soon as they follow you in a corner... bup! Against your rearwheel. And there you go again... I played about 300 races online, stopped for a while, but when I tried again, I put the game down. I had to start all over again, and just did not have the nerve...

I suppose I'm now afraid to play any racing that has any of your wheels exposed LOL. I was even considering getting nascar, because i guess the rubbing shouldn't do that much demage, most of the players doesn't seem to understand the basics of racing.

About the problem you have racing the bikes agaisnt the computer rather than other people online, in that way I guess I can't complain from the F1 CE, if you play on career mode it's fairly difficult, no crashing at all, pit and rules apply, getting tests from the midpack teams doesn't come that often, never even got one from ferrari, mclaren or renault.

I guess if the PS3 version isn't out until 2010, neither will the Xbox or PC versions. If that's the case they may aswell just scrap the 2009 season and aim for a release of the 2010 season instead. Otherwise we'll be starting to play with the 2009 cars just as the real life 2010 cars are rolled out. Unless they go for more than one release a year we're always going to be a season behind.

Of course DLC is an option for the Xbox and PS3, but not not so easy to implement on the PC unless it's free (unlikely).

i was always under the impression that, they would have common sense and have all the nice circuits in, even if the french gp is out and canada... u know places like that should be there to play, put the 2009 drivers lineup, in their right cars, but take the cars that were from 08 and not these new little ugly cars they will have this year the body at least... but ad the kers button as well ... but im guessing bernie chose codemasters for a reason, it can't be something good lol too bad i even got excited about it...

Official CM Statement:

"We have a planned press announcement to be released soon confirming dates for all skus, hence the lack of info on this forum. There have been no delays and our dates are as they were when we finished our detailed design and planning dev phase some time ago. This doesn't mean they tie into the speculation about dates on this forum of course... speculation is just that after all..."

If its delayed then dear god, why is it F1 can't come up with a good game like Grand Prix 4 (and even that was a few seasons late).

Games usually come around too late into a season, or in the saeason afterwards, and i miss the days of cross console meaning PC gaming.

F1 console games (predominantly the Formula 1 "Insert year" games for playstation) have, pretty much, always been released around or after the first half of the season. The very first game from Bizzare Creations was released in Europe at the very end of '95 and was based on the '95 season not '96.
One would imagine that technical data from the teams is difficult (to say the least!) to aquire at the beggining of the season, especially this year! So have a bit of patience guys, I doubt very much that the game will really be delayed until 2010.;)

Tony.

If they can improve upon GRID I'll be happy.....actually I'd be happy with a F1 game using the GRID engine/graphics etc.

I hope the game will have the new qualifying format, I've never had it in any game at all, so that would be funny! The most important thing though, is that it's possible to drive on PC, unlike the NASCAR games, which is such a shame! Now I'm dreaming about an official IndyCar game, that would be fantastic. And why not a Le Mans Prototype simulator?

So no F1 for my PS3 until probably Autumn 2010?

Why the PSP and Wii are getting Formula One first is beyond me. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The hardcore racing fans are not the ones with the "wiimotes" and black paper weights.

If it turns out to be any good, then I might buy a PSP just for the hell of it. I'm a sucker for F1 games, and I haven't played a great one in years.

CM:

"Hi all,

Following on from this mornings announcement, I've noticed quite a few questions on these forums regarding whether the next gen versions of the game being released in mid-2010 will be based on the 2009 or 2010 seasons.

I'm pleased to be able to confirm that after speaking to the dev team and raising your questions and concerns with them that the 2009 Wii & PSP versions of the game will be based on the 2009 season, and that the next-gen versions of the game coming in mid-2010 will be based on 2010 season data."

this now is a major change from the initial FAQ of "based on season 2009" but at least we now know that something must have changed.

I agree the graphics looks like ****, i thought it would be at least like the f1 CE, actually i thought it would be better.. but apparently it's not... i wonder when will f1 ever make a great game... xbox and ps3 have some of the best games in the world, somehow every f1 game we get feels like they were all made by bernie ecclestone, meaning it was made half a century ago....

we can't get the visuals of the tracks the way they are supposed to look, forget the sound... this is making formula one championship edition look like a great game, i too will consider buying a psp to get that game just because i am fanatical about f1 games, too bad we dont get what we COULD get... but then i think, if i keep buying **** that bernie keeps shoving on the fans, then im helping him... lol if he doesnt ruin the sport and teams and fans running the business enough, also the games sucks!

Why we cant have graphics sophisticated as the ones they have for example on some xbox360 games? It's almost like the racing games are nothing compared to the evolution of the 1st shooter games for instance.

And do they really need to be that bureaucratic about it? i mean can't they have all the good tracks that f1 is always running there instead of having just the 17 or 18 that they will use said season?

Like f1 CE, besides the online game that's not very good and you cant set up your car, the main thing missing from it is spa-francorchamps, i know in that season they didn't have a race there, but still, i think spa might be the number 1 ranked track for f1 fans...

So many reasons i dont like bernie, and think he should be gone, this is just another, the f1 games are like him, old narrowed minded and bureaucratic.

To be fair, remember that the game is on the PSP and Wii - two very underpowered consoles compared to the Playstation 3 and 360. The Wii version does not look half that bad at all for a Wii title, since it cannot even come close to rivaling the other two consoles in terms of graphics.

The PSP version does look slightly disappointing, though. Reminds me of Formula 1 '99 on the original Playstation.

None that are too serious. Ferrari Challenge and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue are the most sim-like, I believe.

If you just want to race and forget about the sim experience, try DiRT, GRID, or either of the two Motorstorm games. They're all quite well received.

:rotfl: What does Bernie have to do with the graphics on a video game? Do you think it's part of their deal with him that the graphics must be rubbish? It's the companies making the games that are to blame, not Bernie.
