I'm looking for pictures of the Auto Union car that was used by Hans Stuck for record attempts on the Frankfurt-Heidelberg highway in March 1936. The only pictures I have found are the very bad ones in Kirscherg's book (page 110).

Now the 1935 record car looked like this (A similar car was used at the Avusrennen that year):

and the 1937 car looked like this:

but what did the 1936 record car look like?

Well, that doesn't seem to work, does it? ;)

But when you copy paste the link, it does work.

I don't know why, just blame Xoom for it. They seem to be having some problems at the moment.

Maybe this does work (thanks Leif)

Racing with the Silver Arrows says the Stuck car had an open cockpit. Whatever it looked like, I bet there was only one of them!

I have recieved the pictures from MCH and they showed a car that looked like this:

I have seen drawings of this one before but never photos, so I was unsure if that variant really existed. So, thanks MCH! I'll stick to this one until any new information comes up and use this picture on my website.

P.S.
I aim to have the speed record section of my site ready by April 17th.

Dennis,

I found an illustration of a car with the enclosed rear wheels long ago somewhere on the net (possibly at YOUR site!). Using mainly Kirchberg and Nixon I came to the conclusion that it was neither the 1935 nor the 1937 car so either the illustration was wrong and that configuration was not used or it was representing the 1936 car. Now, the photos shows that that configuration really was used.
