good day

i have noticed something while reading in my books of f1 there r two americans world champions phill hill and mario andretti

when phill hill won his title he wasnt happy why because his mate which was a highly respected german driver for his bravery and speed wolfgang von trips died in the second lap after a contact with jim clark .

on the other side mario did take his title in 78 year and in the race which will decide who is champion mario scored a win took the trophy but he wasnt also that happy man his team mate who was regarded as the fastest driver in his generation died in the second day of the huge pile up in monza .

both americans had the title only once , their teammates died and by the way both of them had their teammates only to fight them for titles hill won but his team mate von trips was the only challenger to him for the title and same to mario .

thinking of it although the loss of any driver is a sad thing specially from the kind of peterson and von trips but really hill and mario should have some sympathy they never managed to celebrate it was maybe the most bitter titles one can win .

ok you have won and you r happy but every thing is covered with sadness because your team mate has died its really tough and strange .

thanx .

A very good point, we really should understand their personal plights.
But their fate was better than the other driver who won his title at Monza halfway between theirs - Jochen Rindt.
So there was no doubt that each of them had thoughts that it could have been the other way around... and I would never have seen the best race I ever saw...
