Any help with this?

Do you happen to know which Formula 1 driver was nicknamed 'the clockwork mouse'
? I've tried a few sites but haven't found it yet.

DD, Do I get any points for knowing who Super Rat is? This one doesn't ring a bell, but the only other mice I can think of are connected with Maurice Trintignant and Alan Kulwicki...

I gave this one my best shot and came up empty. Must be a really obscure driver.

I know one of the Gordon-Bennett trophy race winner's was nicknamed "The Chronometer" after his consistent performance in the race, but The Clockwork Mouse? Perhaps it was a consistent short driver? I'll have a look in my dad's collection of On Four Wheels and see if anything turns up.

Leon Théry was known as the "Chronometer", Prince Bira's (or rather his cousin Chula's) team was called the "White Mouse Stable", Maurice Trintignant was known as the "Ratshit" (Le Petoulet) and Niki Lauda was called in order: "The Mighty Mouse" , "The Rat", "Super Rat" and "King Rat", the two last being "official" as Niki had them on his helmit.
But "Clockwork Mouse"? Can't remember.

Also on an early version of Lauda Air's web page there was a childrens section that told the adventures of "Niki the Rat". Very amusing as the rat looked kind of like Niki.
Then again Lauda did have a ferret look about him.

"Hugo, have you ever tried Ouzzo?"
"Madame I have tried everything."
"Well last night I had Ouzzo with some Greeks. Allot of Ouzzo."
"And what was you husband doing when all this Greek and Ouzzo business was going on?"
"The same thing he's always doing the night before a race; trying to sleep."

More on rodents...

I hear that when Lauda was asked about Huub Rothengatter, he replied something along the lines of

"Who? Rattengott?"

(God of the rats, for those not Germanically inclined, I believe...)

it would have to be someone quiet,or small, but very consistent, ie always there at the end. Does that spark any bright ideas?

I don't remember a driver called 'Clockwork Mouse' BUT there was a famous website sponsored by the Williams-Renault F1 team designed and produced by a company called 'Clockwork Mouse', online from 1995 to 1997, if I remember correctly.

It was a very good F1 site with regular contributions from drivers and team members including Patrick Head and Adrian Newey.

In Sprint car racing i think Frankie Kerr is known as the Mighty Mouse, not that it has any relevance whatsoever to the original question!
