Today's race showed that cheating and breaking the rules pays, even if get caught.

Hamilton should have been blackflagged.

F1 is becoming a farce.

Hamilton reminds me of the Schumacher of old. Knowing when to cheat is what separates him from the rest

Well, overtaking under safety car we've seen before, but overtaking the safety car itself is surely a first....

Lol, blackflagged for what? Marginally breaking of rules?

He got fair penalty, he did have to work to open up the gap. I know most of haters are Alonso fans, but if Alonso raced better then he might have finished this race higher and not being overtaken by inferior car.

So, under what regulations does he get blackflagged?

No need for a black flag.

A DT would be more than sufficient. GIVEN that it is imposed within a suitable time period, in order for it to have the desired effect.

20 LAPS to realise overtaking the SC is wrong? Was Johnyboy Herbert on the panel again?????

Get over yourselves - He was penalised, he fought back and came in miles ahead of Alonso - If you feel so strongly about it, go to the circuit and pick up Alonso's toys, he threw them out of his pram somewhere between turn 1 and 2.

Rubbish. Just another Fernando whinge. Lewis was punished and that's that. Alonso then got himself passed by Kobayashi - so a bad day at the office for him and the team.

What's the point 'punishing' him if he ended up in the same position? Were you supportive of MS' 'disqualification' in 97 too?

Me too! :rotfl: LH was maintaining the minimum lap speed and just so happen to end up along the side of the safety car. Just because he passed it since he was along side of it does make him a cheater. Bad judgment maybe.

Oh yeah, LH was penalized he lost a chance to fight for the win.

Penalty- Yes! But Why 15 rounds After the braking of a rule, After ham had enough space between him and koba? And Why just a drive through?

What did Alonso 'whinge' about? All I heard was that he reported that Lewis broke the rules, which Lewis apparently did and was even subsequently penalised for. It was Alonso's race engineer who complained about it being unfair, that Lewis managed to resume his second position.

Yes, he got a drive-through penalty, but it took far too long for that penalty to be handed out. They waited long enough with the penalty for it to have pretty much no effect anymore, since he ended up in the same position again. Had they handed out the penalty within a few laps, it would have had much more of an effect, since Hamilton would have ended up behind other cars. It ended up indeed as nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Well, it's not Hamilton's fault that the powers that be don't seem to know what to do when anything remotely unexpected takes place. What happened today was taking the piss, and I imagine there's another clarification on its way.

I really cannot understand many of posters here. It was not marginally braking the rules, it was not a mistake. You could see hamilton braking and hasitating, then going for it, it was a decision. He should've been penilised approprietely. DT could've been ok, but not billion laps after the fact. You could've seen that RC made a fools out of themselves on the guys face (didn't see who that was).

Anyway, Maclaren fans shouldn't be so blind to say that everyone who thinks it's not fair is a hater.

It doesn't matter how many positions he lost, the punishment that fit the crime was deemed to be a drive through and thats what he received.

For the record, I thought MS should have lost all points and wins for that year, what he got was a joke.

It showed nothing of the sort.

What it did show is that Fred is the biggest whiner since Montoya and his lack of focus cost him the position at the end to Kobayashi.

Penalty- Yes! But Why 15 rounds After the braking of a rule, After ham had enough space between him and koba? And Why just a drive through?

First off, it takes time for the stewards to figure things out and execute the penalty. As a matter of reflection, it took the stewards 66 minutes, or 57 laps into the race to determine that Montoya was late into his car in the 2004 USGP. That's an HOUR Montoya drove for no reason at all; he wasn't even a competitor.

Second, a drive-through penalty is pretty much standard these days. Webber got a drive-through penalty in the German GP last year and still WON the race, pretty much mirroring Lewis' penalty today. Except that Webber won the race.

im surprised how easily the word ''cheater'' gets being used whenever this sort of thing happens.get a life

on topic, race control was at its moronic best today.hamilton gains by breaking a rule, gets the 2nd position on track when he shouldve been in 8th had he abided by the rules.he gets a penalty and ends up where?..still in 2nd!..justice served..my as*

Let's say a 30yo man commits murder tomorrow, but the police deliberately wait for him to age 50 years before convicting . He'll still end up in jail, but serve virtually nothing.

I said the penalty is fine, the execution and timing were more than suspicious. Mercedes should take on Charlie as head of strategy ;)
