Are there any figures that compares the income of professional top drivers' salaries in different series and genres'?

Here's a wild guess from my point of view in $, am I completely wrong? These only go for top drivers, and post your guesses and knowledge about salaries among motorsport stars :)

F1: 10-25 millions (ranging from Button to Alonso)
NASCAR: 15-35 million (Dale Jr.) Jimmie probably around 20?
WRC: 4 million (Loeb)
MotoGP: 3-5 million (mortals), 10 million (#46)
DTM: 1.5 million?
WTCC: 1.5 million?
V8: 2 millions (Whincup ?)
Superbike: 2 millions (Haga ?, Biaggi ?)
IndyCar: 8 millions (Danica), 4 million (Franchitti, Castroneves et al.)
BTCC: 500 000 (Plato), can't imagine anything more...

What do you think the drivers earn?

Sensing F1 market value (promotional, experience, past success, future longevity as such) I'd put them like this:
Hamilton 30
Alonso 25
Vettel 15
Schumacher (still 15, but earns 7)
Button 13
Kubica 10
Massa 8
Webber 6
Rosberg 5
Sutil 2.5
Kovalainen 4
Trulli 3 (though probably on a higher retainer...)
Glock 3

So guess away, and have fun

I wouldn't like to even try and guess the varying f1 driver salaries; dtm and wtcc figures seem a bit high though.

Indeed, 1.5mil would be the budget for a factory car in WTCC.

All I know is Button earns less than 13 or even 10 million.

And I highly doubt the average driver in NASCAR earns more than in F1.

I'm sure you could find a fairly recent F1 salary list on the interwebs.

Outside of the very top series, I've never known drivers getting that large amounts of money.

If rumours are right Loeb gets about 6 million.

Schumacher is supposed to get about 20. The 7 million are just a trick from Mercedes to avoid the factory employees to get mad (some of them were getting fired due to the crisis).

And what do we do with Kimi and his double income?

NASCAR drivers are incredibly well paid. Even journeymen make eyewatering salaries. Read this for a start http://www.forbes.co...09_drivers.html

There's huge prize money. The total Daytona 500 prize fund is 18-20mil. Let's say the winner gets 13. He probably splits that 50-50 with the team. So he's already made 7.5mil. Plus he might be on a basic salary of 2-3mil. He gets lots and lots of prize money the rest of the year, plus his personal endorsements (the sponsor-sticker overkill you see on their driving suits), plus crucially all the merchandise. You wouldn't believe what you can make on hats and t-shirts.

I bet we could find 10 NASCAR drivers from this season that are getting paid more than Michael Schumacher. And I'll give you a fair chance by not including Gordon, Johnson, or Dale Jr those 10.

Why not? According to Sports Illustrated Earnhardt Jr earned $27m, Jeff Gordon $25m, Jimmie Johnson $18.5m. JPM also earns $10-11m which is only slightly less than he earned at McLaren in F1.

Including endorsements/merchandising, or just salary?

I think a DTM driver is better paid than what most people think. Ekström told a Swedish paper (Svenska Dagbladet) that he earned much more than he could possibly ever dream of. I think the top drivers in DTM at least earn just as well as above-average Bundesliga players (1.5 million or so...).

Ok, I was wrong. Surprised at their salaries, then.

You took the words from my mouth, NASCAR is a money machine, most have no idea the $$$$ involved.

MotoGP: 3-5 million (mortals), 10 million (#46)

A couple years ago Sports Illustrated said Rossi was paid about 30 million. Don't remember how much of that was salary or sponsorship.

Hmmmm.... So a third car with one of these guys isn't such a bad idea.
