What can anyone tell me about the history of this unique car? What were the circumstances surrounding it? Did it race and what were it's results, etc.?

I'm pretty sure it never raced. It was not banned as such at the time but the abolition of downforce generating sidepods for the 1983 season rendered the six wheel arrangement redundant.

These pictures are from the 1995 Goodwood Festival of Speed, are they not?

I can't be sure, but I thought they effectively banned it, either by banning 4WD, or by limiting the number of tyres each competitor could use at a meeting
