An open letter:
Actually there are people outside of Catalunya who recognized "the old geezer" as King Juan Carlos. In fact, people who have no direct connection to Spain but may have lived a few years and read a paper now and then. Incredibly they even find time to follow Formula 1 or what used to be Grand Prix racing.
Sorry but I detest self satisfied ignorance of other countries.

Mitch's comments are all tongue in cheek. Imagine how the dutch feel about his constant hammering of Jos............ they know he's only ****ing around.
I love his columns, anyone who manages to bring a smile to my face has done a damn good job i reakon and Mitch has done just that.

Are you sure that was Juan Carlos???? I've seen him before but failed to recognize him also. Wow! He must have aged a lot.

Sorry to contradict you Dennis, but "the old geezer" Mitch McCann was refering to was in fact Jordi Pujol, President of the Parliament (Generalitat) of Catalunya. Here he is...

If you're refering to the guy the world feed showed walking down the grid a bit before the start, I'm positive it was this person. As far as I know, King Juan Carlos did not attend this year's Grand-Prix, as his absence during the podium ceremony reflected...

Pascal, I saw the same thing on the world feed: I'm quite certain the man whose picture you display was indeed walking with Bernie on the pregrid, and I'm quite certain that is the person Mitch McCann referred to as 'old geezer'.

It looks like I'm mistaken. I did not see the world feed and the photo that I saw was actually from a previous year.
