From a tweet by Greek journalist f1enigma:

According to reports from Istanbul, Sutil assaulted one of the LRGP owners and badly injured him after the Chinese GP

http://twitter.com/f...912406055133184

Now this is a very strange report, because of all the drivers, I would say Sutil is one of the least likely to do this. On the other hand, where there's smoke...

If that were the case then surely he would have been arrested. An assault that results in injury just would not go ignored.

f1enigma Dimitris

There isnt any link. The story isnt on the internet. RAI and TF1 mentioned that Sutil had a bar fight after China.

Some others reported that one of LRGP owners was a victim (Scars were visible on his throat) of an assault from a paddock person

I love statements like "according to reports" on things like Twitter. What reports? Where?

Some follow-up tweets about it from Dimitris:

Some others reported that one of LRGP owners was a victim (Scars were visible on his throat) of an assault from a paddock person
Lets see how the story develops

It certainly doesn't seem to add up, and it is quite unbelievable that it lasted over 3 weeks without being reported

Sutil beating someone up? Seriously? I'd love to see that. That would be one of those epic fights like Godzilla vs. a puppy or Luca di Montezemolo vs. Captain Common Sense.

I'd be very careful about reposting this anywhere, guys.

It's a very serious accusation, and if it's proved false there's likely to be a large defamation lawsuit following quickly.

Don't be a perpetuator of slander. Let's wait and see what verifiable sources say.

Did that Renault person heckle Sutil about his running form?

Sounds like utter nonsense to me, or it would be more than just rumour.

Reporter: We're not sure what is going on inside the town of Beaverton, Tom, but we're reporting that there's looting, raping, and even acts of cannibalism.

Anchor: My God, you've actually seen people looting, raping, and eating each other?

Reporter: No, no, we haven't actually seen it, Tom, we're just reporting it.

'nuff said.

I'm not convinced "freelance correspondent" in this case means anything more than someone who writes a lot of letters in to magazines. Surely no-one with a reputation would tweet this rubbish.

The ability to spell "freelance" might give him a smidgin more credibility. (That would be 1% as opposed to 0.5% though)

According to twitter, it was mentioned during the french coverage of the Turkish race that Sutil and Hamilton had been involved in a fight in a club (not with each other presumably), and that both were being investigated by the FIA.

Why would the FIA care if Sutil and Hamilton were in a barfight? Their teams might care but the FIA?

Yes, in fact, the Renault chief in question seemed to have a problem with the fact that "SUTIL" spelled backwards is "LITUS", which is way too close to "LOTUS", and he demanded it to be changed. Sutil would have none of it, and cracked his skull open! You heard it here first.

I think they actually have the power to suspend whoever's super licence.

Anyway, I don't think there is any truth to it as major publications would have picked up on it.

They do. However doing that would create such an uproar that they don't even nearly have the power to withstand.

Lost in translation I think. He didn't "hit" the LRGP owner. He tried to "hit on" him.

True. But we have two rumour threads at present in the one they are calling for the letter of the law to be followed and in the other it becomes a nevermind.

If this is true, it is a serious offence and should be punished accordingly. Both legally and sportingly... These drivers aren't kids anymore.

If it was mentioned during the RAI/TF1 coverage though on Sunday it suggests the story may have some credibility.
