There are some people here who genuinely can't afford the Sky F1 subscription but I think they don't make up the majority of people who *claim* they can't afford it. Which is not to demonize it but I think people should be honest when they are choosing not to go with Sky rather than being fundamentally unable(fiscally) to do so.

Again it depends how you define it.
The vast majority could afford Sky if they chose to live on benefits and porridge. Of course it's a choice, a question of priorities and perceived value, for most people.

i bet you a lot of people will change their minds after the first race

i watch the majority of football thru streams (have a long list of where i can get them and no im not giving them out) however for some of he big matches they can be totally unreliable, freezing and even being taken off line so have to get another one so not to miss anything
i cant watch f1 that way but i will say if someone does find a stream that is reliable etc please please please keep it to yourself otherwise it gets ruined - im sure FOM will be lurking round known f1 boards watching them for people asking for streams etc then close them down

Yes it's going to be awful especially for the first race, the live forum will be filled with people (and FOM + Sky) looking for streams and b!tching about them buffering or disappearing.

RTL is going to get some flak too, 24 minutes of "Werbung" is quite a lot during a race and when you hear on BBC radio that something is happening on track but you're watching a shampoo commercial it's even worse.

Heh, back in the 90s I used to watch the BBC pictures but with the sound muted as Palmer often tempted me to throw somethig very solid at the screen. I had the Eurosport commentary on my satbox and patched through my stereo: it meant I got a better sound feed overall, with better stereo, but the number of adverts was annoying. Ever see those Bitburger ads with Benetton mechanics in uniform and Schumacher ordering: "Bitte, ein Bit"? Fulda tyres ... Conti ...

I think you're reading things into Trogggy's post that he never actually said or meant.

If by that you are in any insinuating I am receiving any form of benefit then you're wrong. I have needed to but due to the system can not. We don't live on porridge, we just don't waste money on crap!

Why did you buy Sky then :) and by the way you sound as whiney as the whiniest people on here so get over yourself.

Interesting that a certain anti sky poster has been very silent on the virgin media price increases announced recently....

Of that I have no doubt. People watching via streams who share them with unknowns and find them shut down have only themselves to blame. What a fantastic way to promote your sport- chasing down fans like the Gestapo and stopping them from watching it.

You are - I was replying to Ross's point.
Apology accepted. Actually it's unnecessary, because your post was conditional ('If by that you mean...').

It's his job to protect his and CVC's investment so you can't really blame him, pay or watch highlights is his motto.

You just gave me a great idea, Sky and Bernie should give away Sky gift vouchers to everyone who shops in an illegal stream or card sharing scheme. That way one could watch Sky (almost) for free by just ratting out a few copyright infringers (spp?) ;)

For anyway interested, SSN just showed Vettel doing promo work.

Anyone that has seen Sky football will have seen on their team lineups the player popups of said player walking to the camera arms folded. It appears SkyF1 will use the same concept. No doubt when listing the grid.

To be fair, that's not confined to either Sky or football. Australia's Nine Network, SABC, Sky and some of the Indian subcontinent broadcasters all use the same style in cricket: I'm not sure who did it first.

Americans probably, that's been a staple of Indycar broadcasts for as long as I can remember. The best one was when they were doing the rows of three one year and in Roberto Moreno's window he was making a big show of styling his hair...

It all depends on which streams you use, I have a number of possible websites to use. If one of them doesn't work, you choose another. That is what I did with the darts before christmas on Sky Sports. Having a pay service stream will give a better chance of a reliable as there will be less people watching it, so less demand on the streamers connection.
As for them taking them down, they won't be stepping up the search for them just because it is on a Sky Sports channel.

Why did you buy Sky then :) and by the way you sound as whiney as the whiniest people on here so get over yourself.

That would be me then :rotfl:

Apologies if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if you can get the F1 channel via Sky Go if you subscribe to Sky with the HD pack (but not Sky Sports)? Cheers.

Sky have said it will be, but other than that, no specific details have been given about it.

Yep pretty certain one of the FAQs says that:

Wait a minute for me too. I already subscribe to the HD pack. So F1 will be added to my package at no extra cost as well?
Correct.

F1 testing - Friday from Sky Sports News - http://www.dailymoti...4-feb-10th_auto

Once again, many thanks to stefmeister. Over half an hour to length, some things are shown a few times with it being a news channel, but enjoy! :) 45 minutes from Tuesday and clips from Wednesday and Thursday are also up on his channel too.

(also a very nice cross F1/IndyCar feature too)

Thread to discuss the 2012 coverage can be found here http://forums.autosp...howtopic=161371

The announcement has been made and coverage now decided and in the case of Sky, started, so time to move on.
