It's from bottom to top.I don't understand that communication. Andy has just told Lewis he is in fifth, so why would Lewis respond asking to know what position he is in.

Maybe he just did t hear him clearly.
Or maybe it was a little confusing being told he was in fifth but then told about the split to FIRST.

no one cares about career podiums,it's career points and career wins that matter lol....let's also not forget that Jenson is yet to beat Lewis in qualifying over the course of a season.Button still has more podiums.

That's just because Buttons driving is riskier, whereas Hamilton just cruises for points.Button still has more podiums.

Well done to Lewis though, first time since Singapore 2011 that he has scored more points than Jenson overall. 530-529 it is. Come on Jenson...
Wel....l if it stops Lazy bringing it up every weekend

There will be always Button's loyal fans like Lights and Lazy(who is little bitter i must say but still).
Rineheart and others have just disappeared, but i expect them to come alive when BUT will win races.

McLaren's season is rapidly falling apart, and I bet they're really regretting not capitalising on their pace early on...

Well Lewis gave Jenson an absolute monstering this weekend - even Massa was closer to Alonso than JB was to LH!!

Good point. Button might be moaning a lot, but if Mclaren are serious about their championships, they better start doing something to help Jenson get better results.

NEVER. We are here through thick and thin. It's painful, but Jenson will bounce back. We are talking about a guy who came from last to win the Canadian Grand Prix last year.

We're still here ;) As a fan of Button I've supported him through far worse times than this. 2001 springs to mind, it's never been worse than that!
Did anyone else hear Jaime Alguersuari say on the BBC that the Pirellis don't respond well to braking/accelerating while cornering? I'm wondering if that's part of Buttons issue this year. He's a smooth driver who's whole style is based on blending the brake/throttle through the corner and if the tyres don't allow that then even if he manages to work out a set-up that gets the tyres into their operating window he's never going to be able to put in the laps he's truly capable of.

I think there was.
Kovy also had a collision with Perez, but I don't think his wing was so badly damaged in that incident. So it looks like Jenson and Kovy came together pretty hard, Jenson retired and Kovy had to change his wing.
No way did they just park the car, with rain coming down the situation could have changed.
Ah well, at least he had a go. I can't imagine anything more frustrating.
I hope the team find a way forward for Jenson next time out because it's damn depressing at the moment. Especially with all the gloaters round here.

That's very old news. The Pirellis were like that last year too. As I've said already the EBD helped keep the car balance within his narrower operating window, that's the main reason IMO for why he was so consistently fast in 2011 compared to 2010. Ted Kravitz reported JB's main problem this weekend being instability under braking, which is precisely what the EBD cured. His form this year is much more akin to 2010 where he blew hot and cold. It's not that every weekend is going to be like Barcelona and Monaco for him, but I think we could see some more, whereas last year he only had one at the Nurburgring.

I don't understand these post. If McLaren are serious they should be helping Button? Sorry but Hamilton is the driver that is performing, that is bringing home points despite the team doing their best to destroy his races. The team must focus on Hamilton, stop making mistakes and help him to a few wins.

As for the rest of the post - I think it's becoming pretty clear that McLaren need to start "backing" both drivers in a more effective manner.
Yes Lewis is looking (by far) the strongest driver given the current set of circumstances - but if he is to mount a serious challenge, with all the variability we have at the moment, then he's gonna have to have a teammate who can help him out should he need it..... and that's if JB doesn't suddenly sort out his qualy woes which will naturally bring him back into the mix.
#4034
Posted 28 May 2012 - 13:24
Jenson is going to struggle badly if he doesn't sort his Quali out, unlike last year when the Mclaren was awesome in race trim, this year is a different story.
#4035
Posted 28 May 2012 - 13:32
i agree that if the field is more competative then Lewis with the better qualifying pace would undoubtedly benefit from this at the expense of Jenson. Of course Jenson is perfectly capable of putting in very fast laps, and beating Lewis but if he has a weakness its this, and his starts.
Nothing new here, Its just two tracks which are notoriously hard to overtake on, i expect a better race from JB in Canada!

I think that's very harsh. Hamilton is one of many very talented F1 drivers. Jenson has different strengths and weakenesses to Lews. They are not that far away in points and a couple of strong finishes could leapfrog Jenson back in front of Lewis again
