You are wrong. It is based in the US (Southern California, to be more precise).

Pit Babe: It was one or the other and I was unlucky enough to choose the wrong one.

But, it's still based on the Greenwich Meridian 0° or whatever. Beats me if I remember anything from Geography highschool classes. I'm sure Paul Kaizar could teach us a thing or two about that
In any case, as others noted. GMT/UTC is a "fixed" point of reference from which timezones are measured. The UK timezone is GMT+0, and in the summer it's GMT+1. Timezones are GMT+/- something, that's all.
So if your clock was moved one hour, you need to move your profile timezone difference one hour as well.

When the admins merge two threads, could that person please say something like "THREADS MERGED" PLEASE?? When two threads are merged without an explanation, nothing makes sense.

Therefore when the time comes for Daylight Savings to kick in (or out) then the OS automatically updates it, unless the date of the DLS start/end has changed (like it did in some of the Eastern States of Australia for the Olympics, in which about a month or so after we started, the OS automatically changed it forward, and we had to change it back again...
does that make sense??
I may have confused some of you...I sure as hell confused me

Unless, of course, Bira wants to program it into the site that when you log onto AtlasF1, Atlas automatically goes into your computer, reads this info from Windows and then adjusts it accordingly! Maybe at the same time she could program it to also go into your bank account and transfer $1.00 to Atlas' bank account for performing this service!! (See Bira, I'm trying to come up with "profitable" ideas!!;) )

With this new set-up you are asked to pick your time-zone from the list which does not take into account Daylight Savings Time. In effect this means that in order for me (in Montreal) to correctly select my GMT Offset during DST, I must select "Atlantic Canada" as my time zone instead of "Eastern Canada/US" which is my treu timezone.
It took 2 pages but Ali_G you were making sense!! Bira, any suggestions??

GMT+1 remains GMT+1 whether it would says "London" or "Paris" next to it.

Bira, yes I realize that the text has nothing to do with the number, however what I am saying is now that we have changed over to Daylight Savings Time, the options or selections offered are "misleading".
Options given:
- (GMT -5 hours) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
- (GMT -4 hours) Atlantic Time (Canada), Caracas
I am in Montreal which is in the "Eastern" time zone for North America, which is GMT -5 when on Standard Time. Once we switch to DST we are GMT -4, but we are still considered "Eastern" time zone.
I know what you are saying and that is that I should go by the "GMT - X" part only, it's just that during DST (about 1/2 the year) the text associated with these offsets is incorrect and can be misleading, that's all! I think that is what Ali_G was getting at.
